I don't remember brutes having energy shields like elites. Did I miss something important? =P

As far as I know, that's just the energy that combines their armor together. So when you shoot them, there's just a static shock that is shown.

That was a Brute Chief that had the sheilds. As far as I have seen, thats the only Brute with energy shields.

I don't remember the Brutes having power armour in Halo 2 either. I do remember fighting Elites, but they look to be absent. Bungie's answer to everything as far as the canon is concerned seems to be "just go with it".
Marine Corps. Semper Fi.Posted by: Wikked NavajoeMy problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.
For gameplay purposes, they might have given them shields. I personaly thought they looked cool.

Posted by: TRC ShinedownI don't remember brutes having energy shields like elites. Did I miss something important? =PThe brutes in halo 3 always had shields. If you don't destroy their power armor and leave them be, their armor shields recharge themselves. In ODST it seems the effects of the shield being hit are much more pronounced than in Halo 3.

"Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice."For the last time its TURRETS not TORRENTS. A TORRENT is either a peer to peer file sharing protocol or a violently fast stream of water. A TURRET is a self-contained weapons platform housing guns and capable of rotation. And TURRENT isn't even a word.
It could be that the ODST helmet and the visor's tac vision make the shielding more pronounced and easier to see. Remember, we're not looking through a Spartan helmet anymore. The optics in and ODST helmet could be drastically different from a MJOLNIR helmet.

I don't really care about it. Bungie has impressed me to the point where I must get this game no matter what.

In Halo 3 it didn't do that.

Well, if you read Halo: Contact Harvest, it says the brutes had energy shields, so that's pretty reasonable.

I really wouldn't over-analyse things like the Brutes having power armour in ODST, its just not worth it. Just forget the discrepancy, or have a headache.
Go Rams and Missouri!
They've always had shields, just not recharging once the armor falls off.
Verified from youtube.... I am a fanboy
maybe since they didn't put elites in the game they decided to make the best of both worlds... a brute with overshields....."just go with it"
do you think they might have brutes in mp now that they showed them with sheilds
that's a good question....
Might be kind of an obvious question but i was wondering what those bright spots on the enemies are? I am guessing they are weak spots in armor that allow for quicker kills?
that is a good question too that maybe well have to wait and see
