Check it
I though only the Spartans were strong enough to carry the heavy turrets. So Bungie has got some explaining to do.

I remember in Halo 2 at the start of the very first level one of the marines were carrying a turret

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

ODSTs = Badass

'Nuff said.

Intolerance is the highest level of stupidity and inbred thinking.

I though so too. It surprised me when I saw it. But who knows.

I thought the same. Maybe you can't shoot while moving when you are carrying the turrets. In Halo 2, I believe some marines carried the turrets, only to put them down to use as stationary turrets. I could be wrong though.

They could not run around using it though. It had to be mounted.

Dues absconditus

I think ODSTs Can Carry them, but not break em off stands, or move and shoot. Or each ODST may have specific weapon prefences that affect gameplay, such as the Blue Marked on being a sniper, so some may have small perks, like 1 possibly being able to use turrets.

Close, but the plague killed those infected with it, and the ignorant are still alive.
I wish ignorance was a plague.

Did anyone else see the thread about Johnson being able to use the flamethrower and be able to sprint, wave it around like a magnum and jump around with it? I'll find a link.

Jesus loves you, but everyone else thinks you're a twat.

in halo 2 you a marine holding a turret and then setting it up.. so if they can hold it like that then they can hold it with out the stand.

and plus.. ITS A GAME, i dont want them getting rid of a weapon just because in real life it would be to heavy to hold

Yeah some are specialized for certain weapons.
Like how you see each ODST in the squad has a different weapon.
One is even carrying a "Spartan" laser????
Pretty sure there is a good reason for this.

Spartans are strong enough to rip off the turrets, mind you ;)

  • 06.01.2009 8:04 PM PDT

Buckle Up: It's makes it harder for the Covenant to suck you up.

I believe that only Spartans are able to RIP OFF the turret from its mount. I never remember it saying only a Spartan could carry one.

Yeah but it was on his back. and he set it up on a mount.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

And that was their Scorpion MG, a light non minigun turret.

Eat raw meat.
Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

I think while it is heavy, the whole turret deal is that Spartans are the only ones that can "rip" a turret off it's base.

That's the closest thing to an explanation I can think of.

That was a different kind if turret and he was just carrying it to a set point where he put it down and set it up.

And everone else, who cares?! There's one guy who is stronger than the other ODSTs and can use heavy weaponry that other ODSTs can't use. This is why you see that.
