And I'd really like to know why. Comments range from "This game is outdated piece of -blam!- - mediocre at best" to "No new innovative gameplay features, not worth the money, the franchise is being milked".
I'd like to disagree with those comments - I think the Halo 3 engine is still holding strong, and everything looks really sharp and fluid - and keep in mind that this footage might be from earlier builds.
And the gameplay is easily refined. Sure, you might be getting less out of the campaign because it's an expansion, but you have four player co-op, meta-score, and all of this is applicable to firefight, which sounds epic. Not to mention the new health and vision systems, a higher grenade cap, and decreases to strength, and what looks like the increase of the field of view to create a more tactical and co-op based experience.
And I know this might sound fanboyish, but aren't other games like MW2 outdated at this point? I mean, the formula for MW2 is still the same when compared to other games in the series, and it runs on the same, not too refined engine, and yet it doesn't get any hate/criticism whatsoever, and I really don't see why. Not to mention that demo was full of noticeable flaws, though it might be unfinished (so is ODST), and looks much less improved on.
Maybe I can round out these reasons when I actually get my dirty paws on the game. It's still Halo, and it's still probably (meaning 99.9%) incredibly fun to play.
