Subject: Will there be Elites in Halo: Reach?

Because Reach was the first place to be hit by the Covenant, will there be Elites present in this game unlike the upcoming Halo: ODST? The shadow on the far left of the screenshot in front of the planet looks somewhat like the sillohette of an Elite to me. Does anyone know for sure?

Well since the Elites are still part of the Covenant army at this point. I'm pretty sure we are safe to say that we will be fighting them in this game.

They act all big and tough when their on camera with their friends and their guns. But when you break into their house in the middle of the night and stick a gun barrel in their face. They cry like babies and and piss their pants.

Yes, their should be Elites. And if there are there is a 100% chance that they will be enemies and definitely not allies.

I think its safe to say yes. If not I'll be thoroughly disappointed.

I would say yes. Halo 3: ODST covers Truth's treachery, while Halo Reach covers the beginning of the Spartans in battle. We'll most likely see some very tenacious, powerful, and confident Elites. Compared to Halo 1 and 2.

I was about to say 'No' when I reaized I clicked on the Reach forum and not the ODST one, haha. This is confusing! I keep switching so much!!!

Anywho, I sure hope so. Bungie can't use an excuse there since they said Elites weren't ''cast out'' until right around ODST.

This would be a good time to point out that the US Government seriously did consider nuking the moon during the Cold War as a show of force. Project A119.

"A large explosion on the Terminator line would put the sun behind the mushroom cloud, making the explosion visible with the naked eye from Earth."

Then the US decided they'd just send in Neil Armstrong to land on it. Neil Armstrong - the one man on the earth that was considered a suitable replacement for a nuclear missile.

Reach was not the first place. Harvest and Sigma Octanus IV were both hit before. Sigma Octanus was the first encounter with the Elites, I think. In the book, there were Elites on Reach.

Haha, first Arbiter level in Halo 2 and I still thought I was Chief...I killed every alien I saw...til my brother told me we were aliens...that was confusing but fun!

I like Call of Duty and Gears of War, AND Halo. Why must everyone else like only one or the other?

There better be Elites in Reach. I miss having them as my enemy from the first two games, and have been quite disappointed that they won't be one of the enemies in ODST (especially given that we were fighting Elites in New Mombasa in Halo2) so they better be one of our enemies. I liked them as our main enemy so much better than the Brutes.

I'm hoping for a full elite reboot.

Bookwise John's first encounter with Elites was on the Reach orbital station. However, Spartans and regular UNSC forces had encountered Elites before the Battle of Reach such as during the Second Battle of Harvest and on the Rubble.

R.I.P. Halo 2

There better be. If so it will make for a much more fun campaign experience. Brutes in Halo 3 were what made the campaign mediocre.

Whats most interesting is that yes, there should be Elites in this game and of course Bungie has no excuse to exclude them, but what is that sillohette on the far left? Looks like an Elite to me, but that just brings up new questions of why Elites would ally so soon into the fighting, seems like they shouldn't until Halo 2 era where they find out the Prophets are lieing.

Hopefully if it is about elites, they won't look like cuddly plush toys like in Halo 3.

  • 06.01.2009 8:31 PM PDT

I just hope you can play as one as well in addition to fighting them like in Halo 2
