I'm with the haters on this one.

Look, Halo is great. There's no denying the multiplayer is the probably the most robust and capable of almost any game to have come out in years. But seriously.. imagine the amazing game you're NOT getting because of this. What if Nintendo made Mario 64-2 instead of Ocarina of Time? Or if Valve just kept making HL:2 episodes and never made Portal or Left 4 Dead? Or if Bioware made KOTOR 3 instead of Mass Effect.

I'm not saying H:R won't be good, everything this company touches turns to gold, I'm just saying they're pigeon holing themselves here. I hope their 3rd product in the pipeline is a damn kart racer or something.
That is a really good point.

Why would Bungie ditch an extremely profitable series?

Not to mention, what seems to be like an incredibly fun story line \ games to work on with a great work environment.. Bungie knows how to run a company..

Why can't they make Halo games as well as something new? They have a few teams working don't they? Still, couldn't help feeling really excited when they played the "top-secret" trailer at E3. Brought back memories of the anticipation before each of the previous Halo games. Halo is a big part of most xbox users gaming experience. Impossible for the "haters" not to feel at least a little excited.

Are you serious? Your crying because bungie released another halo 3 game? I would cry if they DIDNT release another game. Why are you complaining... and who said you had to buy it? You could just stick to another halo game?

This sums it up pretty well

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Ok, this is cool and all but Bungie....SERIOUSLY....WE HAVE ENOUGH HALO!

When I saw this trailer I was like "Oh -blam!-, a new game besides Halo, maybe even Marathon!" nope...still Halo. When is Bungie going to move on? :(

Alright. Don't buy it.

  • 06.01.2009 11:37 PM PDT

I agree. Its the expansion of a great series. Not a continuation. A broader story is being told here...... Yes Bungie is known for other titles but when they got a stallion in the lead like Halo you bet there going to put all there money on it too and to please all the fanboys such as myself because Halo is all Ive really played and i be dammd if im going to play anything else maybe i dont know im just yay ya yy ay ay HALO: REACH whoo hooo. seriously now.....yay think about it...dont hate....

Halo 2 was the best selling Xbox game and Halo 3 was the best selling game on Xbox 360, why the hell would Bungie stop doing a series if it's making them a crap-load of money. Bungie isn't just a bunch of 4-year-olds making video games out of Legos or something like that.

When a game surpasses Halo in game sells. Maybe they will try something new.

Its what the market wants. Hopefully Bungie now make a decent "Halo" and listen to the community

It looks amazing, I'm very excited for this game. If Bungie can keep expanding this without sacrificing anything, then why not? It's awesome, their games just keep getting better and better. And now they don't have Microsoft holding them back anymore - it's a win, win, win situation.

The toast was burned, the pie was delicious, and the cake......was a lie.

The reason why they keep on going is:
1. It is extremely profitable
2. There are still gaps in the Halo universe, the fans want them filled.
Bungie has earned SO much from Halo and these games are just going to earn more. The Halo community is MASSIVE, so why would they want to disappoint their Halo fans? I for one, love Halo and its incredible storyline.

OP you dont understand the potential of the halo series. It can be so much more than halo 3 and thats what im hoping for.

I agree. After reading all but one of the books, you realize how much more to know there is. I'm hoping Reach has a better campaign than Halo 3. I felt let down a little bit after it was being hyped up so much about closing the chapter of the trilogy. They should flush out the history of the Spartans.

Space battle cinematics would be awesome. The ship to ship battles in the books are just as cool as when the Spartans fight!

Plus the best part is WE GET TO FIGHT ELITES AGAIN!!! Was I the only one not liking the brutes very much? Fighting the Elites reminds me of Halo CE.

I guess there must be some sort of unwritten rule that says after a company makes a trilogy they must make a different kind of game? LOL.

Milking?

The last main entry in the Halo series came out 2 years ago.

It just appears like milking because we all still play Halo 3 multiplayer all the time and still like it.

One main game, one expansion, and one spinoff in 3 years is not milking a franchise.

Words of wisdom all around, but no one ever seems to listen. The words are all around but the words are only sound. But nobody seems to listen. Instead they'll say, "Well how could we of known?" I'll tell em, "It's really not so hard to tell. keep adding stones, and the water gets lost in the well."

I disagree with you "WE HAVE ENOUGH HALO!" comment, everyone still plays the game here, including you. I guess I would sum it up by asking, "Have you not been pleased everytime Bungie has released a new game? From Halo to Halo 2, then 3. In my opinion, they had been very successful at turning something great, and making it consistantly better, to the point where everyone game felt like a completely new one. They magic lies in combining familiarity, with innovation. I think they have "moved on" every title release, exploring new aspects to an already popular storyline and gameplay.
