Ok, with the data and info I've been reading, I think I've got a pretty damn accurate description of the Halo 3: ODST storyline. Here goes:

Well, after the Covenant invade Earth, the ODST's are sent in to investigate what they're doing. But on their way down, the Slipspace rupture from the Prophet of Regret's assault cruiser disrupts and/or destroys all the drop pods. (SoIHEVS.).

Most die, or are injured. A few survive, including our hero, the Rookie. He wakes up, dazed, and sets out to find his squad. ( They've apparently served together before in the First battle of Earth. ) But before I move on, I'll say this. In the GameInformer issue detailing ODST, they had excerpts of the Campiagn. One was of the pre-drop preperations. Dare, ( the Recon wearing woman, ) is spotted by one of the ODST's and checked out.

Their squad leader tells them she is an ONI ( Office of Naval Intelligence ) officer, with a secret mission. It is mentioned that nothing will stop her in completing her objective. What could that mean..

Well, once they all crash, as I was saying before, the Rookie sets out to find his squadmates. You'll play through the squadmate's encounters, and the Rookie will peice together the clues left behind after the adventures. In an open-world enviroment, you can do the objectives in any order you want, or you can just walk around and exlpore the city. Your choice.

Now, here is where the theory comes in. I think, and so do other people it seems, that Dare is the main antagonist. It's been said that the Rookie never sees her, ( yes, it's a her ) throughout the Campaign. Why is that so?

It's because she was busy killing the other squamates. They somehow found out about the mission, didn't agree with it, or maybe she is secretely working with the Covenant. Don't dispute that idea just yet. The Covenant have used Humans to further their needs before, why not now?

But anyways. ONI is always known as a very one track-minded organization, stopping at nothing to achieve their goals. Dare probably kills the squad members when they least expect it, since she is stealthy. The reason? Because they found out the nature of her mission. Sad, but hey. Who says War is fair? The Rookie finds out later on and confronts her. She then attacks him, providing the supposed final boss fight. Who knows what happens then, but I'm betting they both manage to kill each other, ending dramtically. Who knows?

Or, a Rampant SuperIntendant could be the final boss. Knowing you've destroyed vast parts of his city in your search process, in the end he goes hay-wire and assaults you. Since he can control the city's automated systems pretty much, it will be a very tough fight, which maybe in the end the Rookie gets past the defenses, disabling the S.I. He then uses a car in the rubble or a Warthog to escape, maybe entailing a timed race like in the other games.

But it could be both. Dare could convince the S.I. to attack the Rookie, tellng him that he has destroyed his city. With it's obsession to, "Keep it Clean!", it will attack our hero. After the SuperIntendant is defeated, the Rookie chases Dare, and confronts her. Go back to my Dare theory, and there's your ending.

Now I know this isn't great, but I'll try and update it. Tell me if there's anything wrong or any new info, and I'll post it up with credit to you! So tell me what you think, guys.

Update 1: In the Gameplay trailer, Dare says, " Orders are orders." That furthers the theory that she is up to no good, and may in fact be the final boss!!

Update 2: Credit goes to Cantoreax .

Dude, she probably killed them because they found out ONI secrets. Remember the trailer? Dutch blows the bridge? There's one bit where there's a guy in a control tower. Beside the tower is an ONI symbol. So, after he blows the bridge, he and his squadmates head inside the building to protect it. Dutch sees something he shoudn't have, Dare sees him, kills him. Her mission was to protect the ONI buildings and everything inside them at any cost.
The superintendant idea might work too. Bungie's been hyping "Keep It Clean" alot. Sounds important.

Update 3: Credit goes to xo u2 rokker .

I like the story-line but something leads me to believe that you meet up with your squad at the end, and maybe do something like a fight with Dare or the SI.
Update 4: Credit goes to TPGBaseOfSpades

Maybe instead of the Covenant, she's working for Insurrectionists.
--------------------------------------------------------
I in fact think this is a very interesting idea..hmm..possible Sabotage, perhaps?

Here's a thread by Cantoreax that supports my theory of Dare and the SI working together, or at least her manipulating him.
Here it is.

And here's a post ROCK3TTman24 found where someone came up with the idea that the SI is Rampant and is the final boss. Well, he got banned. Ain't that proof enough that that could be the case? Here ya go.

I did remember Duardo saying something along the lines of the antagonist being a women....

But I don't think she's working with the Covenant.

Being an enemy doesn't mean being Covenant. Sounds like a solid theory. Plus her pictures not on the forum heading? Coincidence?

Beware the smiley face! =D

Sounds solid to me.

There better not be some stupid end boss like tataresauce in Halo 2.

That was the games biggest failure.

Wait, I was reading through these, and what do you mean it was a theory? This is still very valid, and I think it's a pretty damn good idea for the plot.

What is your reasoning?

My only problem is that I am doubting there will be a final 'boss fight'. These tend to stay in RPG's, and in FPS and other shooters, the climax is mostly an extremely difficult level. I doubt there will be a boss fight, because it would be extremely hard to make.

Well, maybe a Tartarus-style fight? Kinda like that? Where she controls the S.I. and in different waves he attacks you while she stands in the background, laughing maniacally?

Haha..*ehem*
