Alright, before I delve into my hypotheses for reach, lets clarify a few misleading suggestions.

First: the planet Reach WAS a military shipyard and primary training ground for the UNSC. Reach is where the Spartan II program came to fruition through their training and bio-augmentation. Now, for those of you that assert Sam isn't in the game, remember that he died after leaving Reach with John and Kelly to infiltrate a Covenant ship. Thus, Bungie may decide to revisit that moment in time. Besides, lets not forget that the novel reach covers the Spartan development to the ground engagement and the mission to destroy the NAV data in space. So, this creates the possibility for Bungie to cover several key points in the novel. Meaning that we may fight in space for the NAV data and the ground engagement.

Second: for those of you postulating that Reach could have a connection to the planet seen at Halo 3's conclusion, Reach was destroyed years before the events of Halo:CE. Thus, it is impossible for there to be any relationship whatsoever. In the novel, Reach is the backdrop for the creation and training of the Spartan program as well as the UNSC's primary military facility. So, chances are the game will follow the novel's key points.

Personally, I feel that the whole point of this game is to provide the Halo:CE crowd with an updated version of Halo with a new campaign and multiplayer opportunities. Think of this as Halo:CE with live capability and firefight co-op. This also allows the "fans" who have not read Fall of Reach, an opportunity to experience it through a video game narrative.

That's my 2 cents at any rate.

I hate you so much...

But not as much as I hate the internet.

Good post. One error though. Reach was destroyed roughly 3 weeks before the events in Halo: CE... not years.
