I mean i know this guys are strong but there not Spartans? In the demo they handled the spartan lazer n' sniper with ease. Even when they ran they swayed side to side with all that heavy gear on but when shooting those guys it was like a toy to them.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

1. It's the future, we don't know how the weapon feels.

2. ODSTs handle lasers normally in campaign.

The Flood Revolution is coming...

Halo and realism? Again, I don't think they should be near each other. I mean...

Aliens.

Uh, maybe becuase it is a Halo game?

It is about your ability to actually aim rather then your ability to combat the un-realistic "realistic" gun physics.

Can someone explain to me why a laser should have recoil?

Can't explain that to you.

Can anyone explain to me why ODSTs can pick up and carry turrets? that was a spartan thing, for sure. :(
EDIT: It seems counter-productive to include this feature in a game focusing on stealth, even if there is some ridiculous action sequences in it.

You have to remember that ODSTs are highly trained professionals at kicking ass, they can do quite a lot.

Good plan. I'm out guys.

Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

Something about the way the Rookie fires the SMG, Dare fires the Automag, Dutch fires the Laser, and Romeo fires the Sniper just feels a lot more realistic than when the Spartans do it...

I mean, why does a single SMG pull up when a Spartan fires it full auto but the Assault Rifle doesn't?

And Sir Nikolai, why does the Rocket Launcher have recoil? Why aren't all the bullets caseless? Sometimes, being awesome is better than being effective. =P

The thing is, it is a beam of light, how does it develop recoil!

Maroon 5 is awesome. Deal with it.

Because they're Aliens, Its the future.

Halo is a Science Fiction Shooter. We can't really know what it is going to be like in 2552

It's a very large beam of light. While it's probably fully unrealistic to have any sort of recoil, the fact that the Laser is a gun indicates that it's probably more of discharged energy than just light. Light can get super hot but to actually burst out of the gun and light speed and annihilate most anything suggests that it's a little more than just light.

But I don't know how lasers work so maybe it could do that much damage by just being light and so should not have recoil?

DEMO????

A demonstration does not have to be available for first hand operation. Joseph Staten played the game at e3.

Newtons laws explain the recoil i think.
Every force has an opposite and equal reaction, and you just shot a laser with enough force to kill 20 armoured spartans standing in a row

Be careful what you wish for...electrons are very small but they can gain up and hurt you

A laser pointer does not 'recoil' though. An aircraft mounted laser does not have a detrimental effect on the planes speed...

Like I said, though. It's a little more than just a laser pointer. The initial laser pointer has no effect on the Spartan Laser other than you hold it perfectly still.

The blast from the highly lethal beam is very much more than modern aircraft mounted lasers.

Halopedia

Notice how they have no idea why it has recoil either. The fact is, it has to be something other than your regular beam of light in order to do the kind of visual effects it does. Ask Bungie themselves if it really is the life threatening issue you're making it. <.<

ever though it may be another part of the weapons mechanics, perhaps it vents hot liquid or gas out the fornt at high pressure

Maybe if you play as the Rookie you would have to use more Stealth but in the flashback scenes you may be an ODST that's in a big battle.

Non facete nobis calcitrare vestrum perinaeum

If it is a chemical laser, the chemical reaction will produce a reactionary force i.e, recoil.
