Is anyone else as excited as me for the possibility to meet Dr Halsey in the next game? I think I just find the whole story behind the mother of Cortana pretty interesting, I've always wanted to know what she looked like (pretty much a human version of Cortana without the revealing breasts).

Also praying to see John-117 at a younger age.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

If this is what I think it is, John won't be in it, nor will he be much younger either way.

Halsey might make an appearance. That would probably be pretty cool.

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

I'd like to see her, but it's a bit early to even safely say that we'll be seeing any of the canonical "Spartan crew" from the novels.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

The master chief is gone now, so is marathon. Get over it.

The master chief is gone now.
I'm not sure how to take this comment, so I'll respond to each possible context:

-The Master Chief is not dead, as we can clearly see by the end-of-the-credit ending in Halo 3.

-Halo: Reach has officially been declared a prequel, and while the Master Chief didn't play a huge role in the Battle of Reach, he was still around during the timeline.

-Frankie recently confirmed at Emerald City that Microsoft is not done with the Master Chief and Cortana characters, and that they will further explore them at some point in the future.

Indeed, maybe i was a little too blunt in my statement. What i meant was that bungie stated long ago that John's timeline is done now, This game may well feature John but i doubt he will be the main character.

Another speculation is something involving marathon but that game is also over now so my response is simple, stop hoping for a return of the chief and give up on marathon. If i' wrong then i'll admit it but you'll have to prove t.

This is as close to proof as any of us have until something is officially announced. Consider, though, that Frank O'Connor is a headlining content writer for the Halo franchise. I am inclined to have faith in his sentiment.

Well you are a stubborn one, this still does not prove that the chief will be a main character and this is the point i'm making.

Did I not just say that it is the closest thing we have to it? I never said it was all-encompassing.

His statement is very obviously in lieu to a future installment featuring the Chief in some fashion. Additionally, you originally stated that he is "gone", not that he wouldn't be a main character. Don't change your claims and then call me stubborn for not disproving them. I'd say that you're the stubborn one for not even considering the possibility when the head content writer is giving us an obviously educated remark about it. Should no one bother having speculative discussion with you at all? If so, this might not be the forum for you at the moment.

Also, Bungie never stated that John's timeline is done. They stated that the "trilogy" is done. That doesn't mean that John is constricted to the confines of said trilogy alone. If that were true, then the Legendary Ending of Halo 3 would be entirely pointless, and is the custom thus far, they've always held meaning that has transferred over to a subsequent game at some point.

Your right i didn't actually i wrote that in another thread and i thought i had posted it here so i'll just post my thoughts entirely so as not to sound like a prick like i so obviously have.

Bungie have stated that the timeline we have become familiarised with has now ended and as such the master chief pov halo games should be over. I just don't think that John will turn up as a main character because given everything that has been said this wouldn't make sense.

However within the storyline the master chief plays a pretty significant role so i have no doubt that he will feature in the game, Also given bungies approach with ODST i think they are trying to venture away from the chief and let us see things from other characters points of view. They did this with the arbiter in halo 2 and personally i loved it.

It's also the style of the new ODST game and there are obviously quite a few spartans in the picture at the top of this page so hopefully we will see the game from the perspectives of many spartans not just the chief.

My opinion.
