Subject: Split Screen?

I've got to admit, I'm getting a little bit concerned at the lack of any mention of split screen in all the press releases I've read.

"Drop feet first into a new way to play Halo with the cooperative campaign mode, Firefight. Form a squad with up to four of your friends over System Link or Xbox LIVE and put your skills to the ultimate test against the invading Covenant war machine for glory, high scores, and achievements"

Split screen seems rather noticeable by its ommission, so it's got me slightly concerned. As this is a Bungie game, and they seem to know what they're doing when it comes to multiplayer, I was expecting this to be the same as Halo 3 - with the ability to play in split-screen, online, or a mixture of the two. To me, this would be by far the best way to enjoy ODST as you get the best of both worlds.

If anyone could confirm whether or not it has a split-screen, co-op mode it would be nice. I'm expecting it to do split-screen for standard multiplayer, as that's meant to be the same as Halo 3, but what about the new, ODST features?

I'd also be interested in gauging the rest of the community's feelings. Do you guys want split-screen?

Personally, if there's no split-screen, I'll have to seriously reconsider whether it's worth spending my money on. And this coming from a guy with a Halo 360, all the limited edition controllers, the Legendary Halo 3, and countless other pieces of merchandise. I guess the ball's in Bungie's court...

I'd think you ought to read their press release and see what's missing.

I am Katsu Kage, an assassin trained in the art of stealth. I was on a recon mission when I discovered a blue box hidden among some rubble. Once I entered the blue box it had taken me to a land far away. It was strange and fantastic! There I met PatikaVoom, the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. She showed me this land, then returned with me to the blue box. She called it a TARDIS and seemed to know how to work it. We left together and have been on many adventures, with many more to come!

Well, what am I supposed to say? No one has answered, and I can't find an answer myself.

"I'm curious as well...will it have any sort of split-screen?"
There, is that better?

Normal people worrry me.
Laggy people bug me.
And you just plain take the cake.
Seriously though eat some cake.

I agree that i should certainly have a split screen mode. I've played through all 3 halo games with my twin but leaving a split screen mode out of ODST (firefight at least please) would be devestating.

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

It will definitely have split-screen. We just don't know if it will have 4 player co-op on one console.

I sure hope it's got spilt screen, but I don't think there will be 4 player co-op on one console but it would be cool

Ok I also noticed that bungie has been making a big deal over the 4 player co-op but haven't said anything about split screen. It seems to me tat sens every halo game has had split screen they'd stick to that, But they also keep talking about how different it is and how new it is. Maybe they wanted to make it so different that they're going to change what really makes halo awesome.
I know that my twin and I will be angry with if there's no split screen but will still buy the game just for the second disk to get the rest of the mythic map pack. And we 'l probably just igno0re ODST.
But even if they don't do split screen for this enough people will be pissed off so they might say oops we -blam!- up and wil keep any other halo games split screen.
