Subject: Easter Eggs in HALO: REACH Trailer

Here is my analysis of the Halo:Reach trailer. Don't flame my ideas, they are just my theories. If you have a different theory, post it here. Thanks and Enjoy

The first 2 phrases at the beginning of the trailer are :

"From the beginning" = This could technically mean the game is a prequel to the pre-halo years and judging by the name of the game and the sudden attack of the covenent could be about how Reach fell to covenent hands and was completely glassed. The weapons used on the planet in the trailer seem to have the 'glassing' effect as it spreads around the entire planet. The covenent were able to slipstream right into Reach due to the Iroquois, commandeered by Captain Keyes containing a hidden tracking device takes them straight to Reach

"You know the end" = This could be referring to the actual Halo trilogy. We know the ending of the game, with the master chief floating off into a distant planet, however we don't know how the battle eventually made its way to earth before the Halo years.

Below are other parts of the trailer which should be taken into account

Sierra 2-59 call out = This number could relate to the batch of spartans who were sent to Reach to defend covenent attacks. The Sierra 2 means the spartans are of second class and the 059 is the ID Tag. Possibily its Fred speaking?

The Planet itself = At the end of Halo 3, in the legendary cut scene it showed the master chief floating towards a planet which had a very distinctive blue outline. As you can see at 0.54 of the trailer the same planet has the blue outline.

The floating destroyed ship = I think bungie wanted us to think it had something to do with the Master Chief, however i don't think he will make an appearance. Maybe that 'secret' team microsoft has been creating will manage the new Master Chief game. The ship doesn't look very similar to the one we see in the Halo 3 Cutscene, so im guessing its debrey from a previous battle.

Thanks and Enjoy

Can we all just stop with this unhealthy MC obsession ? It's not going to be the planet at the End of Halo 3, why can't people stop trying to tie up loose ends and move away from MC ? ODST was bogged down in "Where is MC" talk and now it seems that Reach will be suffering from a similar fate.

That ship is still intact, MC's ship was cut in half.

Right, the MC might not appear, but who says the planet isn't the same? It could have been BEFORE it was glassed, and now the game might be about trying to survive covenant attacks. And also the ship in the reach trailer is not intact. The lights on it are flickering and it barely looks operational

Yes, really

no. the planet is reach. its a prequel. they mean that by the time you start the game, if you have read the books, you know how it ends. we lose, very, very badly. if you played halo two you would know that the fleet that attacked reach was 50 times as big as the one that attacked earth.

Dude, your only "proof" for the Legendary planet being Reach is that both have a round shape.

Also, the surface looks completely different and the greenish atmosphere on Reach is completely missing on the Legendary planet.

Let me make something clear; just because it has a blue outline DOES NOT MAKE IT THE SAME PLANET. Every planet with water or a majority of blue elements would have that color, it's just the atmosphere. Ever wondered why the sky was blue?

Unlikely.

The shattered parts look like a frigate.

Spartan 059 was Malcom. He was assigned to protect the generators for the orbital defenses of Reach under the command of Spartan 104 (Fred) along with 029 Joshua, 087 Kelly, 039 Isaac, 043 William, 008 Li, 093 Grace, 044. 030 Vinh & 058 Linda. He died when ground forces Pelican was shot down by the Covenant over Reach. The Spartans jumped out of the pelican but not all of them survived the fall.

I think it's the Battle for Reach.

My evidence:
1) "From the begining, we know the end" implied that we all know how the story ends, ie. Reach.
2) The message in the trailer is to Gammer Station, the station John, Linda and James boarded to destroy the Nav Data.
3) Some of the radio transmissions like "we lost our bird" and "we're being over run, we'll hold this position as long as we can" are close to radio transmissions Fred sends in the book.
4) The last lines in the trailer say they have Spartans on the ground and since all the Spartans were MIA after Halo 3 (except for S-III Gammer Company, but I don't believe it's them) means it has to take place before Halo 3. Also the voice at the end indentifies itself as Sierra 259, not sure about the 2 but Fred was Spartan 059 (I think).

On another note, how kool does Freds voice sound!!!

Question, does "falls 2010" mean that its coming in the fall next year?

it is obviously taking place before all the halo games...
they just breached reach's defenses.

its about as obvious as it can get...

its onyx, it has to be

Isn't Onyx nothing more than a bazillion of Sentinels by that time?

Ok, for starters... read a book. Literally. And then, get some therapy.

That's exactly why the game is named Halo: Reach and why the planet is fully populated, there's orbital defense MACs and...well, generally the events of the trailer are contrary to the events on Onyx, and we still don't know if the Halo 3 Endgame planet is Onyx. This is Reach. Stop trying.

Maybe Cortana fixed it hehe. Nah MC might be sitting this game out.

We don't know that for certain...

Everyone keeps relying on the time frame of the actual attack for the time frame of this game... but that could just be the end of the game, and not the entire game.

Heck - for all we know, we could be playing years before the attack.

  • 06.02.2009 6:58 AM PDT

Of course it all or almost all takes place on Reach, but I belive you'll play as a spartan(s) (maybe) before the war on missions and stuff and during the war when Reach meets its end of life.

btw: There are a lot of theorys about halo 3's ending but I would think that Onyx would just set the stage perfectly, especially if the other spartans had some how escaped the current dimension they were on and met up with the MC.

Although I highly doubt that last part.

John SPARTAN-117 was of second class and they called him Sierra 117, not Sierra 2-117 or or 2-17 or something like that.
