Now i have just been in 3 different forums one with a bunch of people saying master chief traveled back in time and is going to fight in Halo:Reach, one person didnt know what is meant by PREquel and one group saying tht there are going to be SpartanIII's.

Here's my theory:
1. Master Chief is gone for now floating in space on the other side of the galaxy. He'll be back, just not yet.

2. There were other spartans in the spartanII project and there was going to be a new group of spartanII's tht would be ready in 2554 or watever but the covenant attacked in 2552, 2 years before the new group was ready for combat, so they had to fight unprepared and undertrained, this is how most of the SpartanII's died leaving Chief alone, they werent ready, Chief being the original candidate for SpartanII project was ready.

i think this would make most sense because i highly doubt Chief went back in time and if he did then Bungie are losing their touch because that would just be used to fil a huge plot hole.

plz post your theories because i really want to know what people think.

I agree with part one of your theory, however, John isn't the only "finished" SpartanII. About 40? (or sixty?) others completed their training and fought against the Covenant. There were several SpartanII on Reach while the Covies attacked.

I think this is interesting. I don't recall there being other Spartan II's to be ready in 2554. Also, in the novels there were no other Spartans besides the Spartan II's, so why add this new thing? Not saying you're wrong, I just want to hear more really.

actually this game may have the chief in it because he was on the piller of autumn with the rest of the spartans when the covenant first attacked reach (the setting of the Reach trailor), he sent half of them to the surface of reach and the other half to another ship that failed to activate 'the cole protocol' and if the covenant got there first they would discover the location of earth.

Also sorry to correct you but the chief was not the original candidate for the spartan project, he was one of hundreds, he just became the leader, mainly because of his determination to win everything (he even killed a group of ODST's during a training exercise). And the rest of the spartans were just as ready because the were all trained from the age of about 5.

But after the events of Combat Evolved the chief returned to reach to find it almost completely destroyed but some of his fellow spartans were still alive along with Doctor Halsey. He went down there with sargeant johnstone and a few other marines and rescued them.

So there is a chance that the chief will be in this game, but obviously it aint certain. BUT IT WILL NOT HAVE A CHIEF FROM THE FUTURE, WE ALL KNOW AND BUNGIE KNOWS THAT WOULD MAKE ONE MESSED UP PLOT.

If you keep up with the novels and read 'Ghosts Of Onix' You should know that the spartan named Kurt was chosen to train the spartan III project along with CPO Mendez

hey i never read the books im just goin on little bits of info i pick up here and there, and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than time travel, and i dont think bungie are goin to take chief back so soon, besides i hear he wasnt fighting ON reach but helped out from orbit before the pillar of autumn slipped out of there. hopefully though keyes will be back. we heard about the pillar of autumn being damaged badly from covenant ships out of arcadia in halo wars, so i dont really know what the hell is goin on with tht cuz wasnt reach were the covenant first attacked humanity and isnt tht were the pillar escaped from i nedd help understanding tht

I like to think the dialogue "We lost our bird" or whatever is related to the start of First Strike, where the team of Spartans has to hard drop onto the surface of Reach after their pelican is attacked.

Frankly, something revolving around that would've made a much better trailer.

Why can't we put Bungie Cards here?

OP, pretty sure MC being marooned on the spaceship was just there incase they needed to do a sequel and didn't want to do the old shirlock holmes cliffhanger.

I completely forgot about that, sweet!

I hope it'll be in the game, either as cutscene or as playable part.

Strength And Honour

Whatever the true outlines of the actual plot are we have a rough idea, i think that trailer is the most exciting thing i've seen to do with the Halo universe,
' There's Spartans on the ground sir, we arn't going anywhere' gave me goose pimples,
awe inspiring !!!
