With this release blind sighting the anti-trolls of b.net, I was surprised to see a trailer let alone a announcement of Halo: Reach.
With only the above image as a guess, i feel this game may have be a FPS with classes, much like Team Fortress 2, and Shadow Run. We could have humans (reds, attrition) V. the covenant (blus, linage).
I for one liked both those titles They provided a different FPS experience and made me try things i wasn't used to. Like camping in a defensive position. Or just plain rushing to help finish the objective.
Here is my reasoning to the conclusion of a class based game:
TF2
Shadowrun
Halo:Reach

It would be cool for it to be class based but I'm not sure if it would work in a Halo game.

First good theory i have heard, it is to hard to tell but very possible.

My current setup: Custom built 360/PS3 portable gaming unit with built in Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers, Tritton ax-360 audio processing unit, 24" Sceptre 1080p 2 ms monitor, 8 built in USB's and 2 Built in 4" case fans with green LED backlighting.

Never liked class systems in games, i feel one of the very defing parts of halo is that there is only one or two weapons (aka snipe/ rocket/laser) on the board and the people have to fight for them in game.

I was thinking that halo wouldn't fit. But if you look at Halo wars, and Halo:ODST and how they have expanded the whole Halo universe. I feel if they did make the class based game they might use the marines and ODST's to make the classes as they see fit, i.e. sniper, rocketer, and maybe a fast paced on like kelly

I would hate to se them go class based. The whole charm of halo is trying to get the sniper rilfe or rocket before anyone else does and if they make it so you can start with it i'd be :( having said that though I think a class based game would make sense since they're are multiple spartans and each spartan was supposed to be good at something (kelly can run, linda can snipe, master chief can pwn etc....)

Bungie is waaaaaaaaaaay to good at decieving people. The tailer could have had nothing to do with the game, the game could be a point and click adventure game about Captain Keyes' adventures of rescuing walruses stuck up trees. Or how Sergeant Johnson went on to produce his own brand of whiskey.

And if this IS class-based, Bungie simply MUST copy Valve with the Meet the Cast videos.

That would be awesome!

It it is class based everyone is gonna be a sniper. Can't imagine too many people selflessly volunteering to be a medic/support class in public matchmaking. Besides, I play Halo when i need a break from TF2 and Bad Company - when i want to be every class myself and not rely on my teammates.

I hope not. If you play as the Spartans who defended the planet you may have particular weapons you start with, but not required to use those. If you read the books, each Spartan had a particular skill that they were slightly better at than the rest of the Spartans. MC was the only exception as he was not really the best at any of the combat skills, but very balanced in everything. His skill was certainly in leadership (and as Cortana said, LUCK).
