I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

I doubt bunjie could pull off an rts.

They probably could, but I hope they don't.

Personally, I'd prefer for all Halo games to be FPSes because although other ways of doing it aren't exactly terrible, they just don't feel like Halo.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

I hope they stick to FPS. I definitely wouldn't pick it up if its an MMO. If anything Halo needs to regress from Halo 3 back to its roots of Halo CE. But hey, just another opinion.

My bet is on a Battlefront style game. In the sillhouetted pic. there seems to be different classes of soldiers (spartan or not) just like you would see in Star Wars Battlefront or any other game analogous to that.

So I have no idea what Reach is about. Unless I missed something talking about what the game play might be like then I will speculate that it could be and RPG? That would be pretty cool. Your thoughts?

A RPG was in the making by ensemble but microsoft pulled the plug, i really dont think bungie would do something as horrible to NOT make a shooter D:

  • 06.02.2009 8:55 AM PDT

I hope for a FPS and that is Bungies normal style although I'll buy it anyway

  • 06.02.2009 9:02 AM PDT

i really, really hope its an FPS....id still buy it if it was anythign else but i just really love FPS's especially when theyre made by bungie

It's FPS, a roleplaying let's you decide what happens in a game take diff paths n such when reach is based on a book so it couldn't change plus a Halo RPG would be a fail. Stick to FPS, we learnt for halo wars.

There isn't another FPS, nor has their ever been another FPS, which has come close to achieving the standards that Halo has established in the FPS genre. Why would Bungie abandon such a dominant position?

Suggesting Bungie would do anything but a FPS is akin to the notion that Lebron James, arguably the best player in the NBA, is going to leave the NBA at the peak of his ability (the dude is 24) to become the best neurosurgeon on the planet.

KFC will always make chicken, Starbucks will always make coffee and Bungie will always build great FPS games.

Is it possible, somewhere down the line, that Bungie will build/staff a team which ventures into other waters? Given the capital they've generated they most likely have already started along this path.

Halo Reach is the next evolution of the Bungie FPS which will replace Halo 3 matchmaking as the dominant online FPS.

Halo 3 Gamerscore 1750/1750!!!
Halo Reach Gamerscore 1400/1400!

RPG? How could that work out?
I mean, Reach is supposed to be under a huge attack and the Spartans are always busy.

Don't really see how it could be an RPG, especially when Halo is known for its FPS'

Sorta like Halo Wars? :p

Mike Lowery: [singing] Bad boys, bad boys what ya gonna do? What ya gonna do when we come for you?
[Marcus starts ad-libbing the first verse]
Mike Lowery: Dude, you gotta learn the words.
Marcus Burnett: We usually only do the chorus

reach wont be an RPG,reach was glassed and destroyed in just a few days, civilians were evacuated immediately I believe and it wouldnt be possible for it to be an RPG unless its very short

" I have a life...

Well, Bungie are certainly capable of making an RTS if they wanted to - lord knows they made a couple of kick-blam! ones in Myth and Myth II. But I don't think they would want to retread what Ensemble did with Halo Wars. And an RPG is probably out of the question because of how limited they are with the story of Reach already. It's got to be an FPS of some sort, or at least a slight variation of an FPS as we know it.

I like the idea of a squad-based game. The silhouettes of the 5 soldiers would seem to indicate that there is a team aspect to the story at least, so a squad-based FPS would make sense.

Ya that would be awesome. But I also think it could be a MMO.
On the 360? No, but it would be cool though
Microsoft has posted a job listing for a position on a team designing a single server setup for an MMO that is intended to support 300,000 players simultaneously on XBox Live.

Most MMOs have multiple servers for their MMO, so you have to choose the server you want to play on. EVE Online has a single server setup but has never hosted more than about 30,000 players online at any one time. Microsoft intends to have up to 300,000 players all online in the same world at the same time.

Hey! Maybe Halo: Reach will be the most massive online multiplayer game ever created. LOL.

Early on, when H3 was first released, there were times when more than 1 million players were online in H3 Matchmaking. Whoever was working with MS to build out a service which could support up to 300k users simultaneously had nothing, I would guess, to do with Bungie. If Bungie were to build a MMO service ( by service I mean to suggest a network to support such ) they would need the ability to host well over 1 million users simultaneously.

Who knows really, you may be right? The 300k might be a 'alpha / beta' network intended for test purposes with the ability to scale once the service goes live?

They said a while back (don't remember offhand when or where - one of the updates I believe) that they had three projects going in-house. My guess is that "Halo 3: ODST" and "Halo: Reach" represent projects #1 and #2, respectively. If they're only now looking to hire an MMO server guy then odds are their development cycle for that MMO project is MUCH farther out than the 2010 date for "Halo: Reach". Most major software development lead times range in the span of 1-3 years, and that's assuming it's something you've done before. MMO's are notoriously more complicated to boot. My guess is that the MMO server posting is for project #3, whatever that may be, and is probably on a 3-5 year dev cycle.

Gamertag - Rdog 11

Call me Rdog, not RdOG or RdOG1507. I made that username when I thought it was cool to use alternating capital and lowercase letters...

An RPG would be awesome. Sort of like Fallout 3 set in the Halo universe.

  • 06.02.2009 10:02 AM PDT

(Duh)

FPS is my first pick but a battle front game or game type would awesome , also an RPG would be pretty cool so any of them will make me one happy gamer.

  • 06.02.2009 10:25 AM PDT

I know some people have brought up star wars game (not actually played so forgive that i know nothing about it :P) but maybe the idea of an RPG wouldn't be too bad if it were to be played similar to Fallout 3. Maybe Bungie can incorparate a FPS but where your character is in an open landscape and is required to do tasks to 'level' before he can take on mass covenant forces, for example.

Juts my thoughts though :D

idc if its an rpg but it better be MMORPG and it better be first person shooter

  • 06.02.2009 2:52 PM PDT

That would be cool. But seeing as there will be a multiplayer beta I think it will be like the past Halos

  • 06.02.2009 2:55 PM PDT

i think it will be like battle front in fps.

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

If Bungie makes Reach an RPG, I'll assassinate who ever gave them this idea. It'll be so stupid, it's just unimaginable.
