*SPOILERS*
OK I personally think that rather than the planet at the end of Halo 3 being Reach that it is the Dyson Sphere (no idea if I spelled that right) that Halsey and the other Spartans got transported to.
When looking at the planet at the end of H3 it is very dark, black and has lines on it, almost looks like a halo ring but a sphere... thus the Dyson sphere that Halsey and them teleported into. (The Dyson sphere would be like a halo ring but the death star of halo rings, if the construction of a halo ring was continued around until it was a big hollow sphere with a "planet" on the inner surface then that would be the Dyson Sphere.
Impossible. The Dyson sphere that Halsey and the other Spartans are in is supposed to be no more than a few feet in diameter (i believe even smaller than that), not the size of a planet. Not to mention, but it probably exists in slipspace, not in real time. The only "Dyson" sphere bigger than that was the one that appeared in Halo Wars. Technically it was a Dyson sphere but not as technologically advanced.
The end to Halo 3 was introduced as a way to make a nod to Marathon, to bring the story full circle with the beginning of the game, and also to allow for potential games in the future.
This planet is entirely different in the Reach trailer. For starters, there is a different sun...the colors are different. The glare that shoots off of the planet is meant to resemble the ending and add another nod to Marathon. Time travel with the Master Chief? Honestly, do you really think that that wouldnt be a cliche and terrible story line? It would be awful. The Master Chief was at Reach. He my be included. Hell, they may even go back to Jericho and the development of the Spartans and some of their tasks against the Insurrectionist forces. Hopefully they do and that would give the Chief more spotlight.
They can't be the same planet. The end of Halo 3 clearly shows a larger and more machine like world along with zero Covenant Vessels...Reach on the other hand was very different. It wouldn't be good story telling for the Chief to go back in time to the fight of Reach. If that is the case, I won't buy the game....
______
As it is, the Chief is probably in the Trailer. The "Ship" may not be a "Ship" at all. In fact, it is probably a section of the 3Km Gamma Station that The Master Chief goes to in order to aid in halting the Covenant from getting the Locations of Human worlds including earth from the Nav computer on board the Circumference. If you also note, after seeing the ship, there are other ships jettisoning shuttles of some kind. The smoke on the Orbital Ring would be where the Pelican laced with C4 would have landed. If it is a ship, which it could very well be, then perhaps it is the Circumference itself or another ship who failed to activate the Cole Protocol. Or something. Maybe its Noble 1 if that is a ship...It cant be the Dawn as only Half of the ship would be appearing there....
