We're building a better world...all of them, better worlds.
It goes pretty much against all my B.Net being to do this, but I'm with Dan Bauer on this one.
The beta shouldn't be a factor in the price. It's likely they'll give invites out in addition, but that's speculation. In any case, we're doing them a favor by playing it. In return, we get to play the beta version of the game. No money should exchange hands in any beta testing, IMO, and it's how beta testing has been done since the idea was conceived.
If we're talking perceived value and we can't take the multiplayer or any of the other features (Forge, Theater) into account for the price or any of the other features we've already paid for, all we have left is a 4- to 5-hour campaign (as confirmed by Bungie in an update), an extra game mode, and 3 maps.
I'd go with $40. The campaign is essentially half a game. The maps would cost $10 on their own.
The worst part about this is anyone willing to catch up on Halo 3 will have to buy both games, meaning, yes, they'll pay for a big chunk of this game twice.
Yeah, I'm a little upset about it. And once again, I'll buy ODST, but I sure as Hell am going to limit my Microsoft purchases more than I already am.
Sorry, Work Place brethren. I just can't agree with this pricing based on MY perceived value. And I'll put my B.Net rep, for what it's worth, in the I-don't-like-this bucket.
