Im seeing all these theorys about what this game is going to and I thought that I would help try to clear some of them up by using some common sense and good logic.

1. Time travel, yes it is possible that mc travels back in time, but I find this highly unlikely, the main reason behind this is, Bungie is in the business of telling stories, thats what a game is about at its core, time travel would really ruin the halo story, and while we may sometimes question how smart Bungie is, I dont think that they are that dumb.

2. Game also tend to follow what the popular markets are. It would make sense to do a prequel, look at some of the movies that are popular right now(DARK KNIGHT,STAR TREK,WOLVERINE,ETC.) all of them are prequels.

3. My final point, of all the theories about which spartan do you play as and who the people are, everyone seems to be missing one thing. What if you dont play as a human or anyone associated with the UNSC. This could be an all Covenant game.

As I stated these our just a couple thoughts I have, I hope that you can find them useful.

If it was a covenant game, why would the teaser reference Spartans and the one picture we have relating to the game have 5 of them in?

The reference to spartans were radio signals, Im pretty sure the covenant can intercept radio signals, and the pic. is just a silloutte, how do you know that those are spartans, yes I agree that they fit with what we know of spartans but how do you know for sure.

Covies don't touch human weapons and don't look like Spartans....they don't even have the same hitbox as Spartans in Team Swat (can of worms) hahaah!

As I have already stated that the pic does look like spartans, but since nobody has any real evidence to prove it. I will say again how do you really know. In theory those could be the spartans at reach when it fell and its their memories of it falling and you could still play as a covenant character.

My troll sense is tingling.

Uh, The Dark Knight isn't a prequel, it's a sequel to Batman Begins.

  • 06.02.2009 10:52 AM PDT

another point I would like to make is that their is a reason its called a teaser trailer, this game could go many different ways and the trailer may be misinformation, something to keep us occupied until they are done making it.

Yeah but why the hell would bungie make it that complicated?
A teaser is supposed to give you clues, not throw you completely off course.

Im not saying that is what they are doing, Im just pointing out that it is a possibilaty.

Another thought has occured to me, by reading the books it is stated that before the war with the covenant that humanity was in the middle of a rebellion, it could be possible that this game deals with something along that line. A possible rebel infiltration of reach.

The game can go in any direction the guys (and gals) at Bungie want it to. While we have some knowledge of Reach, and its inexorable fall, there is still a lot that Bungie has to work with. Just look at how worked up we all are, about five silhouettes. We'll just have to wait and see.

And, just because I think it needs to be said, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are not prequels to the original Batman movies. They are a re-imagining of the series. They are stand-alone movies, of their own canon.

I mistated the batman movies, can we please drop that little slip up and move on.

My apologies.

But, as for the rebellion. I think that would be a pretty cool idea. Not for the main point of the game, but maybe as a way to start, or to introduce the characters that we will be using in the game.

I just think that alot of people are automatically assuming that the game is going along the path of the book, this game could deal with a timeline ahead of the covenant war.

Agreed. While yes, the title of the game does allude to the Fall of Reach, we are only considering this because for the most part, that's all that we know of Reach. Yes, this doesn't constitute the training sites, or the important structures there. Anything of worth playing, to the average audience, is Reach's fall.

But, again, the game could be anything.

That is the one fact about this game, it could be anything. Im just glad that everyone quit bringing up time travel.

I wish time travel would stop being brought up, but to be honest, I doubt it will be. As long as there are people who see similarities between the planet at the end of the Legendary ending for Halo 3, and Reach in the new teaser trailer, that idea will be a permanent fixture.

Until Bungie sets us straight.

I will say this, if bungie for some reason decides to make this a time travel story( which I doubt they do) I will lose alot of respect for their story telling.

Define "original batman movies." If you mean the Tim Burton one, then you are mistaken. Joker is created and dies in the Tim Burton Batman film, whereas he comes out of no where in the Dark Knight.

Also, I tend to think that we're going to be playing as a rag-tag team of humans (including a spartan) more than Covenant. I like the idea and I see your evidence, but the picture we've got shows give human sillhouettes. You can debate that the first one on the left is an elite. But even if it is -- and I'm pretty confident it's not --, that's a heretic Elite and working for the humans. Therefore, not a Covenant perspective.
