So, what do you guys think about this? In my opinion bungie needs to go out and create a new game. Now please before all you guys that come in here and flame me about how "halo is freash" "it never gets old" Please take into concederation the fact that you have not been playing halo since the begining. Now when I heard this announcement at e3 I said wow thats nice we get another new halo! Then i began to think about how boring and old this title is getting. If Bungie does not get off this Milk train soon we will end up getting halo 17 reach rise of the covinant aerosmith. And I know we dont want this to happen. I also remember reading somewhere that bungie said that halo 3 was there last halo game. And hell, Were getting 2 more... So I know this is probably going to get locked and all but before it does i would like to hear your guys say your opinion. PLEASE DONT POST IF YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO WORSHIP THE BUNGIE PPL.

i honestly couldn't be happier, then again these games bring me great amounts of joy. i thought maybe i just like the halo universe, but halo wars was horrible in my opinion. something about the way bungie makes halo games, are just so approachable yet take time and skill to master. i know i sound like i am worshipping them now, but i am just trying to make my point. i got goosebumps from the Reach trailer..... can't wait. i do see your point though, i hope eventually they turn to different characters in a different universe. but for now i am content.

Naa i dont think bungie are milking it because the story has been writen from the begining, there only making a game from the story available.

Please take into consideration the fact that some of us hardcore fans have been playing from the beginning and know how to spell.

I be trippin'.

Bungie isn't milking the series. In my opinion, milking would be defined as:
Continuing something that originally had success, but has since failed.

Bungie is not milking because the Halo series is the greatest videogame series of all time. Period.

Bungie is currently working on three projects. One is Halo:Reach, one is Halo:ODST, and one has yet to be revealed.

Listen, it doesn't make any fiscal sense to abandon Halo. Microsoft was intelligent to allow Bungie to continue to make Halo titles (probably the FPS games) and move other games (Like Halo Wars, the RTS) to other branches. Therefore, Halo as it was first created is still in the hands of the original developers. This is good news.

The other great news is that fans will continue to get their fix of Halo from the company that developed it as they also concurrently develop other games in the studio.

While Halo: Reach may be their first announcement out what was the two in house games, there is another. Not to mention that the Halo titles have been great games. You may not like every aspect, but you have to respect the innovation Bungie puts in their games. Halo, the title, is owned by Microsoft and therefore Microsoft wants to push it forward. It will have been three years since Halo 3, so another Halo title seems like a great idea for next year.

I'd simply enjoy what youre receiving. Maybe your bored with Halo...but remember that we know nothing about this game yet. Perhaps it will surprise. Plus, this will only be the fourth iteration with only one side game. When Halo reaches the point that Zelda, Mario, Metroid, MGS, and FF have reached...then I would consider it milking the franchise. It isnt even milking unless the quality decreases which I don't think it is fair to say it has (for any of those franchises really).

I would love to see them tackle a new IP, however this game is pure fan service. People have been asking for this since the novel Fall of Reach came out. I can honestly say, as a long time fan of the Halo universe, that I am more excited for this than I have been for any other Halo title release.

Bungie will only have gone too far when we get Super Halo Kart, Halo Golf, Halo Tennis, Dr. Master Chief, Paper Halo, and multiple remakes of Halo 1.

What do you mean I haven't been playing Halo since the beginning? I've gotten every single Halo title the month they came out if not the day. Unless you mean I haven't played the Alpha and beta versions in which case yeah no one has, but many people here have been playing since CE.

Also they said last in the trilogy, this is a prequel.

Personally as long as the games are kick ass and amazing I see no problem with making it in the same well known Universe. Just as long as Bungie doesn't rest on their laurels and stop putting effort into their games, I'll keep buying (although that goes for any Bungie game).

What I really dont understand is how some fans of Halo can even begin to complain about another halo game. When Bungie said they were no longer working on any Halo titles after 2010 people went ape S*** saying they were going to boycott any other company that puts out another game. Not saying and understanding that the OP was not one of these people heres my response.

Why wouldnt you want another Halo game? On top of everything it's another game that does fit with the Halo story line and will without a doubt have amazing multiplayer and single player modes. If anything it's a great goodbye from bungie to all the loyal halo fans. When Reach is all said and done dont be surprised when Bungie comes out with a totally new game that will be amazing. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I personally will admit my obsession to Halo. I own every single Halo video game and even read the books, and they topped everything. They could make as many halos as they want and i will never get tired of them. NEVER. I would gladly buy a new Halo game every year and still never get tired of them. I say if u have a good thing going dont stop it keep it going as long as you possibly can. And i am not worshipping that is my honest opinion.

Given the context of the Halo universe, yea, that would be some serious milking of the Halo cow. A Spartan has already appeared in a fighting game though.

mmmmmmmmmmmm. Bacon.

I don't think Bungie is going to run into this problem. Their releases are seemingly 2+ years apart for all their games, so it's not like they are flooding the market. The only 2 close releases are the ODST(which is an add on the way it looks to me.....) and Reach.

If they started pumping out a new Halo every year like Guitar hero, yes, people will get sick and tired of it.

A-men brother

  • 06.02.2009 1:16 PM PDT

....whut?

As long as the games maintain their quality, I'd like to see more and more. If/when they start losing quality, then they need to stop (or at least take a break for a few years).

I dont remember people doing this.. you should point me in the direction of these people.

Just so you know. There are THOUSANDS of people who have played from the beginning. I, for one, Have played all the Halo games, Except Halo 2 for PC, I got Halo: Combat Evolved and the original X-box for Christmas when it was released. I thought the game was stupid until I played it. I have read all the books. I know what all the terminals say. I think it's great they are going into some depth to tie up some ends. Like, What happened to Earth? Or, even though the books tell the story, How did the events at Reach happen? I imagine these will most likely be the last of the halo series. And I believe(can't remember if you made this point) that Bungie said no more Halo games AFTER Halo 3. Which would mean they won't go further with the story. I can see why you would think they are taking it too far. I still play Halo for PC as well, and every once and a while I do get bored, so I have to do something else.

Then don't buy it. I HAVE been playing Halo since the 1st one came out. So yes, Its my favorite game and I will buy every single one they make. If the community doesnt want it, they would have not been complaining about the end of the Halo series or what not.

  • 06.02.2009 1:17 PM PDT

The OP is a tooly fool for not thinking on the marketing and profit side of things.

'don't fix what isn't broken.' Final Fantasy has been following that same formula for years and people still lap that -blam!- up.

I am excited as hell! No game has such an amazing story and vast universe like Halo. Bungie is smart by sticking with it. There are thousands of different stories Bungie could make up out of the Halo universe, good ones to.
