Bungie is currently working on three projects. One is Halo:Reach, one is Halo:ODST, and one has yet to be revealed.
Listen, it doesn't make any fiscal sense to abandon Halo. Microsoft was intelligent to allow Bungie to continue to make Halo titles (probably the FPS games) and move other games (Like Halo Wars, the RTS) to other branches. Therefore, Halo as it was first created is still in the hands of the original developers. This is good news.
The other great news is that fans will continue to get their fix of Halo from the company that developed it as they also concurrently develop other games in the studio.
While Halo: Reach may be their first announcement out what was the two in house games, there is another. Not to mention that the Halo titles have been great games. You may not like every aspect, but you have to respect the innovation Bungie puts in their games. Halo, the title, is owned by Microsoft and therefore Microsoft wants to push it forward. It will have been three years since Halo 3, so another Halo title seems like a great idea for next year.
I'd simply enjoy what youre receiving. Maybe your bored with Halo...but remember that we know nothing about this game yet. Perhaps it will surprise. Plus, this will only be the fourth iteration with only one side game. When Halo reaches the point that Zelda, Mario, Metroid, MGS, and FF have reached...then I would consider it milking the franchise. It isnt even milking unless the quality decreases which I don't think it is fair to say it has (for any of those franchises really).
