Microsoft own the Halo franchise, not just Master Chief.

Fall of Reach had a fair bit to do with Master Chief so it'd be odd not to see him.

Also, it's not a milk train, at all. Halo: CE came out in 2001. Since then, there' s only been 2 other Halo games made by Bungie released.

Can't wait for this game.

But who's to say that Halo: Reach is going to be the same as the Halo series? The Halo Series has always been original. They could bring out this game and it could be like Guitar Hero for all we know. By the way, don't expect to see good ole Master Chief cause he has left the Bungie world. Microsoft owns him now... Like how someday they will own the world... Not before Mac has its say though...

Anyway Bungie wouldn't repeat the same thing over and over. They are smarter then that.

Actually, yes, Master Chief will be in it. No, it wont be like Guitar Hero [for all we know]. Have you read the latest Bungie update? Read the Q&A. There are two things made official in there. 1. Heretic = Midship and 2. Halo: Reach will be an FPS.

i think its fine....i mean come on....we have halo 3....Now halo 3 ODST.....then Halo Reach
and there won't be a halo17 because halo was a trilogy...that means with you as masterchief
now if master chief is beside you then that would be awesome too.....
i honestly think that a movie of the halo trilogy story line would be insane...

halo had its own book series made before the games, the games are based on the books, this game is based on the first book. Halo odst is the only halo game that you are not a sparten and does not have its own book, its just there to fill in the gap between halo 2 and halo 3.

Although I am happy as to the fact that they are continuing an incredible series, the fact that Master Chief isn't in most of the new ones takes away from the Halo experience in my opinion. They should continue the Halo series and remake the Marathon series (since the Marathon series is supposedly to be set sometime after the Halo series were Master Chief comes out of stasis).

As long as they dont start making "Master Chief and Friends" a show on Playhouse Disney, or "Master Chief's Christmas Special", its not too bad. Yet

First and foremost I am an FPS fanatic. Halo 3 is my favorite game of all time. The more Halo games that come out the better, as long as they are quality. I've enjoyed all of the Halo games so far (Halo Wars included). While I would play any game Bungie makes, I will not be as into it if it is not FPS. That goes for any game company though. Although I do make exceptions (Gears of War, Metal Gear Online, other TPS). So no, I do not consider it milking. This is not Madden or Guitar Hero. We do not have a new Halo every year. Even if another company takes over the reigns of Halo, I will still play it, and I'm sure it would be great, because no company wants the mob with flaming torches outside their office for ruining Halo lol. It sounds to me like you are bored of the Halo universe. That is fine, and that is you're opinion and preference. But on the other side of the spectrum, there are tons of Halo players anxiously awaiting ODST and Reach.

  • 06.10.2009 11:03 PM PDT

As long as the quality is still there they should keep making Halo games.

So, what do you guys think about this? In my opinion bungie needs to go out and create a new game. Now please before all you guys that come in here and flame me about how "halo is freash" "it never gets old" Please take into concederation the fact that you have not been playing halo since the begining. Now when I heard this announcement at e3 I said wow thats nice we get another new halo! Then i began to think about how boring and old this title is getting. If Bungie does not get off this Milk train soon we will end up getting halo 17 reach rise of the covinant aerosmith. And I know we dont want this to happen. I also remember reading somewhere that bungie said that halo 3 was there last halo game. And hell, Were getting 2 more... So I know this is probably going to get locked and all but before it does i would like to hear your guys say your opinion. PLEASE DONT POST IF YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO WORSHIP THE BUNGIE PPL.

Why would they abandon a franchise that they know they can make a killing on over and over again? There are plenty of other studios ou there that do not make Halo games.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

I thought that before ODST was announced. Then, I said, "It's not like they're using Halo as something to lean on, no, but something to manipulate to a masterpiece far greater than what they started with."

HOO-RAH!!

they'll keep improving the game until they can't improve on it anymore.

  • 06.11.2009 3:27 PM PDT

I don't think there is such thing as an end point in improvement. With Natal coming up, and graphics capabilites in computers increasing every month, and ideas coming out of amazing minds all the time, I don't think there is any shortage of improvement materials for this big improvement factory called Bungie.

I agree, I mean I was excited at first when I saw it, and I still am a little, but the excitement has turned into anxiety about it. I am worried they (Microsoft, not Bungie) might just be beating this horse for the money and sacrifice good gameplay for a quicker release date. At the same time I was sort of irritated and felt like i couldn't trust what Bungie says about things anymore since I do recall them saying several times that they themselves were not making another Halo game but then all of a sudden its revealed that they are. They lie to their fanbase for the sake of surprise, but it doesn't come across to me as that, it comes across as "We didn't intend to make a new Halo game, but then we thought of all the money we could make and changed our minds."

Just my opinion though, I will definately play Reach, I just really hope they do it right.

Hey everybody, why do people think its a milk train if a series has a million sequels? Nobody slammed Harry Potter... The Halo series has released fantastic titles consistently. This post should appear when there is a bad Halo game, then we will be ready to post away especially since the game will suck so more time to be here. But they haven't make a bad game yet, I think that we can agree... A milk train=the guitar hero series, those games are getting worse and worse, GH3 is still the best game and probably there to stay. While the Halo games, they are not only amazing, but they keep getting better. If Reach isn't good, let's be here and post away. Until then, don't worry about it. If you buy a boring game, give up on the series. But it's not going to happen.

to be honest...bungie and microsolt need to get their S@#! together on their games and their issues with xbox live in the first place, before they even think about making any new games.why not just sell a modem that everyone has to have to access xbox live, that way they could keep a better eye on it,cause the system they got aint workin

A couple quick points:
1. I have been playing Halo since the beginning. Many people have been playing Bungie titles since Marathon or Myth came out.
2. So what your saying is Halo is going to become a Star Wars/Guitar Hero franchise? Cause it's not. If Reach sucks and then they continue to make sub standard games just for extra s=cash then yes, until then, no.
3. They said they would not be making any more games in that set of Halo games (1, 2, 3 so no four people). They didn't rule out expansions or prequels.
That's it for me. I didn't read any other post after the OP so sorry if this has already been said. I just wanted to address all the points in his post. Thanks.

no they havent gone too far... there is a book called the fall of reach which i presume this game is based around... iam realy looking forward to this release. I have all of the halo games apart from halo wars... which i REALY want.... so in my opinion they havent gone to far...

  • 06.14.2009 12:29 PM PDT

Id say halo:reach should be the last halo game they make. the halo series has been going on for awhile. Ive played halo Ce and halo 3 and seen bits of halo 2. it has been good but going on for awhile so maby Reach should be the last thing. if they put enough work into it and make it good then maby they will be able to create another halo game. but after that they should probaly move on to another series.

RAWR!

the rumor is that this game will be kinda like halo 2 where you switch back and forth from a spartans perpspective of the attack, and then the elites perspective of the invasion. just not sure which spartan and which elite.
