So, what do you guys think about this? In my opinion bungie needs to go out and create a new game. Now please before all you guys that come in here and flame me about how "halo is freash" "it never gets old" Please take into concederation the fact that you have not been playing halo since the begining. Now when I heard this announcement at e3 I said wow thats nice we get another new halo! Then i began to think about how boring and old this title is getting. If Bungie does not get off this Milk train soon we will end up getting halo 17 reach rise of the covinant aerosmith. And I know we dont want this to happen. I also remember reading somewhere that bungie said that halo 3 was there last halo game. And hell, Were getting 2 more... So I know this is probably going to get locked and all but before it does i would like to hear your guys say your opinion. PLEASE DONT POST IF YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO WORSHIP THE BUNGIE PPL.

The thing is that while the game play might be getting old.(even though its not). The stories are always going to be new. There is so much that can be done with the halo story itself. Ever hear of the Halo Bible? Apparently it exists inside Bungie and the story arc of Halo CE-3 is just a small part of that universe

Bungie keeps improving game play and you can see that with ODST, The reach trailer was a teaser and I personally would love to see the origins of everything in the halo universe at reach

So 2 thumbs up from me for Bungie making this game

Just look at the people who are making Call of Duty, they all ready have 6 games!

They have five games. Modern warfare 2 has been confirmed to be a whole new trilogy, hence the famous CoD title not being in the name. Though as long as ubisoft keep's the realism, and don't try too much to repeat same types of wars, then they will have no problems. I wouldn't mind buying something that goes along the title,
"Call of Duty: Seige of Vietnam" or, "Call of Duty: The hunt for Osama Bin Laden".

You don't even know who makes CoD.

King HalQ

Well I don't thing they have gone to far I like having the Story go on because It would suck if it just ended! And I have played it since the very beginning, I played it before it came out because I played the demo. I'm only 13 years old but I think thy haven't gone to far because there's already all the strange extra stuff you see in Halo 3 and Halo 2 and Halo 1. Like on Halo 3 on the last level Master Chief get's stuck on the ship and shows the planet Onyx so are they just gonna end it there? I don't think so...

It just needs to change some aspects of gameplay add some new weapons some new abilities and better story and campaign than halo3.

I can understand your point PokeyChris but in all honesty it's a bit unfair to say what you're saying AND at the same time I kind of agree. And this is only my opinion. I don't think Bungie was prepared for the reception that Halo was going to get. If you had your own business and found something that got results....BIG results, you would milk it to. The Halo story kicks ass, the characters are interesting, the art is hella cool, and the multiplayer...well, we've all played it I'm sure. It's easy to see why people are so attracted to it. Bungie finished the Halo story with H3. Connecting H2 and H3 we have ODST. There's a lot of people that don't know the story prior to H:CE because they didn't want to read a book. Halo: Reach is telling the story of those who havn't read to find out what happened and those of us who have to experience it. And when I said that I kind of agree with you I meant that Halo: Reach should finish the Halo story. Unfortunately we both know that's not the case thanks to the H3 Legendary ending. But Bungie will continue making Halo games and they'll slowly diminish into generic FPS over time. You guys have to remember, Master Chief is Xbox's Mario. They're going to milk him and turn the series into a "sell out" series. Enjoy it while it has meaning and substance.

No, I don't think they are milking Halo. As long as they are still adding features that matter they can do this till the end of time.

Bungie has not gone to far I am happy to see that they will keep making Halo games and that Halo does not get subbed out to some other publisher.

call of duty has at least five titles and is coming out with another and halo only three (not including halo wars) and coming out with 2 more. And mario party has like 11 titles! your saying halo has too many.

I can't help it. Your mom makes such a big breakfast when we wake up every morning.

Well first off, they stated that they would not be making another Halo game within the trilogy that they had already completed, so yes technically they are not going against their word. I do not think that they have gotten to the "milking" point as you call as of now and it is definitely no where near COD status. The guys over at Infinity Ward and Activision are coming out with a new Call of Duty game every single year, essentially keeping the game the exact same with a few minor changes. The guys over at Bungie have only come out with three games in about the 8 years and do not plan on coming out with another for probably another year and a half or so. They are taking their time to make sure that there is definitely some originality to each new Halo and it allows us to keep our interest without "milking" the series as you say.

I can see where you're coming from but think about this...the Halo universe storybook is massive...if they didn't take advantage of it then they would just be wasting all of that, and I would be highly dissapointed. I am ecstatic that they decided to make a game about a story we've already heard from a book (probably from a different perspective though)

i am kinda in the middle on this one, but leaning to halo reach being a good idea. i dont think halo is being milked, allthough i do think that halo is becoming over used a tidbit. i love halo, all of them (yes, even halo wars) and i like that bungie is trying hard to please us. now, the graphics will most likely be higher, you'll be playing as another spartan besides cheif, and you'll also be able to play the beta, through the previous game, odst. these things do intrest me, and i like the idea. i think that once they start to make a halo game were you play as some spartan in the year 42900, than it'll be excessive. but as for now, reach, being the 4th game in the series (not including odst since it's an expansion set not it's own game) it has alot of petentall. so, i see reach as an overall good thing.... as long as it's remains a bungie made game.

hey guys, I know its not part of the topic, but Please tell me everyone knows it was based of the book The Fall of Reach. I just hate it when they base movies off of books and almost no one knows it, but they act like they like it even though they actually don;t know the real story and haven;t taken the time to give some credit to the original creator of the story.

I understand where you are going this this but I think this has potential to be their greatest game yet! If you haven't read the book Fall of Reach then you are missing out. Great book in general not because it is halo. And also Bungie said halo 3 was the last halo game about Spartan 117 or master chief. I believe and wouldn't be surprised if Spartan 117 made a cameo just because he was on the planet when it fell under attack but He won't be the main character. Before that they said that they were making a total of 7 Halo games and I dont believe ODST counts as one because it is an expansion. Bungie wont whore out this franchise.. It is to good of a franchise to ruin. But the will keep their word and make 7 games that involve the Halo Universe that has been created.

Also I know that if bungie made the mistake of pimping the halo franchise, they would lose a huge number of their fans.

Also I personally Hope this story follows the Spartan 051.. Kurt who ends up helping train the Spartan III's would make for a good Ghosts of Onyx game.

I think what Bungie meant about the end of halo was that:
1. No more Halos to blow up!
2. The end of the > HALO TRILOGY < (NOT the series)...

  • 06.04.2009 12:19 PM PDT

Remember Reach!

I had mixed feelings when they first announced it but any bad feelings I had are completely gone... I mean COMPLETELY...

I am so excited for a prequel game that shows more than one Spartan fighting at the same time (that isn't Halo Wars). Bungie just wasn't ready to let go of Halo and that is perfectly fine with me!! I'm not ready for them to let go of it either... There are so many more stories to tell...

Though this is the sixth Halo game it, if similar to the Chief trilogy, is actually only really the fourth, because Halo Wars isn't similar in any way and ODST will be different enough.

Btw, Bungie said they wouldn't have a sequel to Halo 3, but they can have prequels and other unrelated storylines.

Bye.

My personal opinion is; "It's better bungie make's more of the title they created and do it right, than some other company ruining the Halo franchise."

I mean, I'd rather play another 7 good Bungie made Halo games, than 1 or 2 really bad attempts at a new revolution in gaming and storytelling.

No, for god's sake, I'm sick of these threads. Why can't people be excited for the new game and stop moaning.

Halo is a franchise, just like Star Wars is, just like Mario is, just like Call of Duty is.

  • 06.04.2009 12:36 PM PDT

it is a prequel you know

  • 06.04.2009 12:39 PM PDT

Just because the title of the game has the word Halo in it does not mean that we're getting something similar to Halo, Halo 2 or Halo 3. Based on the information we have so far it looks like Bungie may indeed be taking a different approach. Chances are we may be getting a large scale class based shooter which would not resemble the run and gun style of gameplay that we've all become accustomed to. Remeber this is not Halo 3.5 or Halo 4, this is a prequel and more or less its own game. So you might actually be getting your wish without even realizing it yet.

I am excited as hell! No game has such an amazing story and vast universe like Halo. Bungie is smart by sticking with it. There are thousands of different stories Bungie could make up out of the Halo universe, good ones to.

I completely agree.... They could probably even make a game from the Covenant's point of view like us playing through the actions of 'The Arbiter' during the first Halo game!

  • 06.04.2009 11:56 PM PDT

As long as Bungie stays true to the Halo franchise, they can crank these games out for a long time. Keep them fresh, and add new twists will keep Halo fans coming back for years to come.

We need more Halo! I want to hear more elites say "Wort wort wort"!

lol, I was playing halo 1 yesterday, such a funny thing to hear as they charge.

On topic, I agree to a certain extent, and I would hate to see halo go the way final fantasy has.
I'd like Reach to possibly be the last halo game; that and a movie would be perfect.
