Subject: Why ODST shouldn't be $60

GT - MawltenGawd

We all know Command and Conquer 3 most likely, if you don't, go google it. Anyways, it so happens that their "expansion" (C&C3 Kane's Wrath) was $40. I'm probably wrong, but In the original game, there was only 3 factions, and a few multiplayer maps, plus a campaign and a few other stuff. When C&C Kane's Wrath came, there was campaign, 9 factions, and more than 50 multiplayer maps.

So why should Halo 3 ODST be $60 if it comes with campaign, co-op, a beta code, and firefight? It didn't even take more than 2 years.

It is worth more than $60 if you are going to compare it to that game.

The AR is an awesome weapon, RESPECT IT AS SUCH!!!

quite simply, it is because most of the halo community are willing to pay that much.

$.50 in store credit.

How do you know how long they work on it? It's not that expensive. If you're broke, get a job. You can make $60 by September.

A price isn't reflective of how much something actually costs but how much people are wiling to spend on it.

Take a large soda at McDonalds (US) for example. The drink is comprised of water, CO2, and syrup none of which costs more than a few cents per unit produced. The Cup, a few more cents, and the lid and straw, even fewer. However you're charged around two dollars (US) for all of this because that is a price you are willing to pay for it, not how much, plus the profit margin, it cost to make the beverage.

Halo 3: ODST is basically Halo 3 and more. You get the full Halo 3 package, a different campaign, and extra features. It's so worth the price tag. The key is that pretty much everyone who is interested already has Halo 3. =P

Just curious, but you do understand how easy it is to make a RTS map? I've made dozens myself.

Glad that Halo 3 garbage is dead, thanks to Reach.
Unfreakenbelievable!!

It shouldn't be. That is a given. Too bad there are a lot of biased souls on this forum who have no idea of what they are talking about when they say it is worth it. Hopefully that wasn't too harsh.

This is why MS has put the price tag on this expansion. They believe that the price will drop $20-$30 a few months after its release. It is pretty much a scam to take money from everyone who is a diehard Bungie/Halo fanboy and everyone who is a Bungie/Halo fanboy wannabe. The average age for Halo 3 is around 15 or 16, which means they usually take from their parents (who will probably never know anything about what is going on). I believe if these parents kept up with the gaming industry, there would be a lot of unhappy kids, since the parents would never go for this (or atleast until Christmas).

MS is pretty much trying to get as much as they can before the price drops. However, if the product was priced at $40 like it should, the price may not drop much at all (which is why I think this is a poor business decision).

But, what sickens me is that Bungie, themselves, did not want this to be priced as a full game. So why weren't there any actions to decrease the price? Maybe it's because they could get away with it if they added a Beta that they would've given out for free anyway if it wasn't included. They also added all the features, except Campaign, that were found on the original disc to make it seem like it is worth more. Unfortunately for them, some of us actually have more intelligence than a monkey.

I sugget for those who even the slightest feel that this is overpriced to wait until the price drops. Both MS and Bungie are predicting it and it is an expansion. If you guys really think that you are getting what is worth of a full game then you will be truly disappointed.

If you have patience and wait a little, the price can only go down. Is it really worth it to pay $30 extra just to get to experience 5 hours of a Campaign and Firefight (which btw will get old, like Gears2's horde does) early? But, since Bungie only allows 4 playlists nonRestricted maybe you have to in order to even play Halo 3 online.

Just wait. It is only an expansion. It won't last long, and you will be right back into Multiplayer anyway. The price will drop.

The campaign will not be 3 hours long.
A spread run could get through something that long in around 20 minutes.

Try 6 - 10.
