They showed it off so poorly by comparison imo. They seemed like they were rushing themselve thereby making it look like a linear experience. ---> that's why it looked very similar to halo with slight differences, because they were essentially carving a linear level for the E3 demo.
Seriously, check out a hands on demo. It looks like a mini sandbox world with a great feeling of isolation and they show off the superintendent and jees. It looks so good by comparison. I thought the ODST thing looked cool, especially the drop, but more or less it looked like more halo levels. Not the case. This should be considered a different Halo game really. Expansions are somethign that are more of the same. This really isn't an expansion, more like a prequel. also, Firefight looks pretty neat. Didn't get to see to much of that though.
- The impression I got from this demo is that while this still feels like halo and is instantly identifiable, it's work into environments that make the game more interesting and then seems to rewind back to more traditional halo type levels, but seemingly more tight.
After seeing this I think I'd be disappointed if Halo Reach was a straight sequel And judging by ODST, they can most definately make a more typical Halo multiplayer mode while delivering a different type of campaign.
