I have been watching that ODST vid at IGN, and Mr Staten said that ODSTs cannot use dropped covenant equipment. Now, if you have a gamertag like "iTz ClUtcH BR iz RiPPiN", just hear me out for a bit before you call me a noob.

Equipment isn't really used that much in the current Halo games, but if firefight really is a Horde/Survival style game mode, where you stay in one place to fight off waves of enemies, why not have things like trip mines, and deployable cover? Why can a manager, scene chick, nam vet and biker put down propane tanks and petrol cans, but you can't use anything like it? It's about the only scenario where equipment makes sense. And BUNGLE of course.

However, Mr Staten only said you would be unable to use COVENANT equipment, so maybe trip mines are still on. Or, maybe equipment could be enabled exclusively for firefight.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

I found that incredibly odd as well, especially as there is an ODST standing there holding onto a detached turret, which should not be physically possible for a normal human.

I could see UNSC equipment being used more than Covvie. An ODST would be trained in how to use UNSC equipment.

For all your Hoggin' needs.

If you watch the Trailer an ODST walks out of a Bubble Shield, but I don't know if he's the one who threw it.

Bungie needed a new feature to make the ODST's "different" from Spartans. With X being attached to equipment and probably the button used the least often, it went. Plus, they could conveniently right it off as "yeah they can't do that. Only for the big people."

In H3 campaign, up on the D pad turns on your torch/flashlight. I thought that would have been used for VISR, leaving X free.
