Most FPS games have faceless protagonists, mainly because it helps with the immersion factor. I think not giving the Rookie a real name was also smart; even though I loved Halos 1-3, I found it difficult to connect with MC as he seemed like an established character, whereas the Rookie doesn't have much to say. Imo that helps immerse the player even more. It's all just theory, though, by the time the game comes out the Rookie could possibly have a plethora of dialogue and my whole point becomes moot.
