Could Project Natal intersect release with Halo: Reach?
The release date of Project Natal is currently unavailable, but do you think that it could actually be possible to mo cap-play a Spartan? The Seven Steps to World Domination are becoming more of a reality than ever before!

Source for Project Natal.

Well actually, at E3, and with reference to the Natal, Halo: Reach is mentioned in the presentation that could be played with the Natal.

Ohe tsun plttxe Na'vi!

There is a possibility. And by the way i wouldnt even consider calling project natal a copy of the wii. Natal is full body, remoteless, and uses 2 cameras which is probably a first. You can only use your arm for the wii and you have to hold a controller. Face recognition is cool too =)

I hope that doesn't happen and what's up with the no controlers thing? So every game out there won't require any controler? Plus the game show thing with the avatars is just completely retarted.

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I don't see how any Shooting game could be played using Natal without having any peripherals, which nearly defeats the purpose of Natal anyway. Running, strafing, turning, all are impossible based on what we've seen of Natal so far.

I'm pretty sure that it would work, they showed the clip of the girl driving the car, obviously there has to be some small control system behind this.

It's only logical to think it as a possibility, but i doubt it to be totally honest. Bungie and microsoft would not risk a strong title on such a new program, not to mention STYLE of gameplay. Maybe Halo first strike ;)

Go Rams and Missouri!

I hope it's optional. I don't think Natal would be too great for shooter games, but fighting and sports games it would be great for.

That stupid project Natal is a bunch of bs. The video for it is so fake. You know those things don't work as good as they seam. The only way something like that would work is if it had a full body suite thing that captured every move, which according to the video, it doesn't. Just another wii knock off. Though, if it did work and bungie made the first game that used it=world domination.

wow it would be cool to have to buy a set of 3 guns based on small ( magnum , neddler,) medium ( assault rifle, battle rifle) and big ( spartan , Rockets) ...if u give it some thought it would be cool and natal will rule if u dont like it then ure just a fat nerd ..PEOPLE BUILD SOME MUSCLE.......ok whatever.... the point is that project natal wont intersect with reach but it could be kool.........BABY this is next-gen

But fps are meant to be played with a controller or mouse, I wouldn't want to use my arm, along with it being harder to shoot, your arm would get tired of pointing for more than like 15 minutes. Thats like one longish round of Call of Duty or Halo.

Your arm maybe, but I've played Metroid Prime Corruption all day. Did my arm get tired? After three hours, but that didn't stop me. I've been playing Time Crisis and other shooting games in arcades for years.

Also I'm not going to walk in place in the room, let alone think about sprinting in Cod or Running fast in Gears.

Also, hilarious quote:

True. Now that I think about it having the -blam!- beat out of you with a pool ball in a tube sock by your degenerate pimp is the better choice.

.

I hate that motion control BS. It just feels so gimmicky and unnatural. Give me a controller, please. The lack of a surface makes everything difficult.

The way our brains have been trained, from an early age, and from our natural progression, is based on surfaces and relations to those surfaces. For example, that is why going from a laptop keyboard to a desktop keyboard feels weird for me - im used to the limited feedback a laptop keyboard gives me, in relation to a desktop keyboard which acts differently due to less space constraints.

Because there is no surface for our brains to relate to, our brain basically has to start guessing.

Read this. It talks about what I was saying. It probably explains it better than I did. It is a very interesting read.

Read the original Halo and Natal forum post for Reach to hear my ideas and thoughts and my arguments.

"Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice."

For the last time its TURRETS not TORRENTS. A TORRENT is either a peer to peer file sharing protocol or a violently fast stream of water. A TURRET is a self-contained weapons platform housing guns and capable of rotation. And TURRENT isn't even a word.

Natal isn't just motion capture, its also voice recognition. I think that some natal compatibility combined with controller use would be amazing. For instance, you could give orders to your marines so that they don't go rushing into combat. You could tell them to fall back so they survive and you can use them later.

You could also have menu selection and the menus be voice activated and used for finger motions.

Natal is not BS. The technology will do what they say it does. We've been getting subtle hints about it for months now. They purchased a few companies that made 3D depth cameras several months ago, and when they did everyone was expecting some kind of controller motion capture thing like the Wii. Project Natal was way beyond what was expected. The technology is sound and has been in development for quite some time. If they keep working on it, I'm sure a lot of games will incorporate both motion and voice recognition technology. Games don't have to be 100% Natal. They can use parts of it combined with controller usage if they want to. That's what I want to see.

PS- I just had a thought. A lot of the time in Halo 3, sometimes you have to maneuver certain marines with certain weapons (like the rocket launcher, sniper rifle, or Spartan laser) into the right seats on your vehicle. With Natal, one of the possible voice commands could be ordering specific marines with specific weapons to get into the passenger seats, and other marines with weak weapons to man the turret. The interactivity would be amazing.

IM A CRAZY POLISH MAN.

If anything if they do use natal with halo they should let us scan objects for what to use in the game that would be sweet.

That was the best(and definately beats mine on the other forum topic for this)description of pros for Natal I've seen.

I kick ass and make headshots, and I'm all out of ass.

I just don't get why those things can't just be a button. Buttons are quicker and always reliable. Why not just map that to the d-pad. I don't know, motion control will always be gimmicky until we have full virtual reality.

edit: plus, whey can't we just have headset voice recognition.

this has been explored by many companies and some experiments have gone far and well for it, but they always end disastrous or at a dead end. Full virtual reality will come out way after our generation.
