First off, Tycho and Gabe complained that Halo was too repetitive of their textures and geometry (read, Library and Two betrayals repeating AotCR). A year or two later though, they apparently found out Halo had multiplayer. That's when they (mostly) ate their own words (they also put blame more on M$ and the simply nature of rushing products than Bungie's on the repetition of textures).

" So, I love Bungie again. And I'm sorry for hitting them. And even though it might be weird, I hope they can come to my birthday party in February."
Granted, I'm not excusing any PAers behaviors in their forums, just figured you guys might be interested in a little "FYI." Sorry for all those links.
The game becomes steadily more fun. Jaime mocked up a fake multiplayer game with some Master Chief AI that just stands around and lets you shoot it – so I spent about half an hour exploring some new physics in-depth.
On the BOT ideas, I think this update verifies almost without a doubt that bots don't exist. Bungie is very close to a finished Halo 2. There is no reason that one guy would "whip up" real quick a poor AI if they had bots under development. AI for MP is not something that is halfa$$ed. Games like BF:1942 have poor AI, and that's a MP only game! Bungie doesn't and won't ever put out such poor features. If BOTS are in, i'd expect they'd be very good bots indeed. Also, there wouldn't be so much mention in the update of making non LAN/non LIVE xbox's having more attention paid to them if there were BOTS. Why make good gametypes for 3-4 player matches if you can throw in an extra 12-13 bots? Bungie admited long ago to compteplating the bot idea, but all they could confirm is that they were going to make sure nonLAN/nonLIVE xbox's would have attention paid to them too. Since it appears to me bots are out, Bungie is still holding true to their word by giving us other methods of small match enjoyment.
Oh, and please Bungie make me eat my words. ;) I'd really appreciate it . . . .
