... Jaime mocked up a fake multiplayer game with some Master Chief AI that just stands around and lets you shoot it – so I spent about half an hour exploring some new physics in-depth.
On the BOT ideas, I think this update verifies almost without a doubt that bots don't exist. Bungie is very close to a finished Halo 2. There is no reason that one guy would "whip up" real quick a poor AI if they had bots under development. AI for MP is not something that is halfa$$ed.
I see your point, but consider this: bots are already (or near) done, and he just took out some of the "smarts" of the AI? Also judging from his wording, it doesn't seem like a Master Chief that is not controlled by a person is the new, temperary thing - it's just the dumb AI that is.
From a programming point of view, it seems much harder to add non-controllable characters into multi-player then it would be to adjust their level of action. If a un-moving Master Chief was wanted, why not just play spilt screen, and let the other controller sit? This would have the same effect.
Unless of course, spilt-screen is not working properly at the moment, but you'd think it would be for the beta test.
Just my two cents worth.
