Subject: Armor Permutations

Do you think bungie will take advantage of the armor permutations made for halo 3 for halo reach? Would explain some things, make it seem like they're not just making it up as they're going along. I mean we already know ODST, Mk V and VI, and Recon (security too i suppose), but where can we place the rest in the halo universe? Hell - maybe they can toss in the katana.

The supposed Sam or whoever it may be (please don't make this into an "it's an elite" argument) could have EOD or CQB, Kelly (or whoever) could have the scout gear, fred with hayabusa... I don't know...

Any thoughts?

That makes a lot of sense, who says they all have the same armor.
Is Sam that last thing on the left?

  • 06.02.2009 6:34 PM PDT

Well, it is very much possible seeing as though all of those armor permutations (except Mark VI) are all diffrent variants of Mark V.

  • 06.02.2009 6:34 PM PDT

I mean it doesn't even have to be sam and kelly and them, any spartan would work. Or not, in DARE's case.

  • 06.02.2009 6:35 PM PDT

Im just speaking about the armor permutations being in multiplayer. Campaign.....not so much.

  • 06.02.2009 6:38 PM PDT

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but i think having the armor perms appear in a campaign would make things alot more interesting.

All I really want to see is what they make the Mark I armor look like so I can finally put a picture into my head of what it looks like from reading the books. Other than that, I do want to see some other variations of armor.

God don't you people read before you post? I said supposed first of all, and your comment is totally irrelevant to my argument.

No, Sam died on one of their first real missions with Mark IV armor. He was actually gone for quite a while by the time Reach fell. And @ OP: Hayabusa would be one of the least likely to make it in, simply for the fact that if you read the description for Hayabusa, it says that it was produced as a rival armor to MJOLNIR, the use in MP is likely non-canon. Also the Rogue variant was produced privately, so that one is likely out. EVA, CQB, EOD, and Scout are candidates though. Security, by the way, is actually a variant of Mark V. And the ODST helmet is also likely to be non-canonical, as it is probably just a little nod to players who have been asking to play as an ODST.

EDIT
My bad, I got it reversed. Security would be viable, and EVA, CQB, EOD and Scout would be less plausible.

Mark I? Mark I is laughably outdated, it was around since before the SPARTAN-II program. It was actually used for other purposes, so it may make an appearance, but odds are it won't as those purposes were not combat oriented. They were used in loading and moving heavy cargo, and later as protective gear for the Spartan's trainers. Doubtful you'll see it. You probably mean the Mark IV.
But Mark IV was already outdated by then too, so you'd just wind up seeing Mark V from Halo:CE.

their armor will generally all be exactley the same. think about it. they are in a rush to get out the power armor to combat the covenant.

they wouldnt have time to personalize beyond fitting. plus back then the armor didnt actually have sheilds.

actually mark IV is likely right for most of it unless it only goes through the end.

and actually mark 1 has been used in the spartans comabt training to protect the trainers and was likely used by gaurds holding turret guns.

IF your theory were right i would say fred would be in CQB because it has a knife on it and fred generally likes his knifeplay

sig goes where?

Well if an ODST chick can have a Recon helmet, I see no reason why spartans can't have custom armour, especially since we know nothing about the Spartan II Class 2's.

well you have to realize odst is much later on than reach.

Yes I know this, I was just saying that armour permutations are indeed a possibility

it is a possibility but im saying its less likely.

it would be interesting but i think that permutations were generally just for multiplayer.

i doubt they actually exist in the halo universe... but of course i could be wrong.

Well Bungie did go into the trouble of incorporating background info for all the permutations, however you are right, outside of the ODST, Recon and Mark _ Helmets, there is no proof of their existence in the Halo Universe.

yes. i think the backstory is entertainment value actually.

and it seems like actually recon is an odst variant and NOT a mjolnir variant.

this game looks like its set in the falling of reach so i dobt very much sam is there , after all

actually, from a logical standpoint, the variations of Mark V would only make more sense.
