Memento mori.

Okay, so, in this weekly update, there was a refrence to Jurassic Park noises coming from the sound studio. In the IGN Live E3 Demo of ODST
, one of the hosts jokingly asked Staten about 'riding around on an elephant', as in creature. Staten replied, 'when you get the full game, you will find out how just how true that almost was.' What could this mean? Dinosaurs in Halo? 0_o

UPDATE: I've heard people theorizing that there may be a cameo or something by the never-before-seen Drinol or Sharquoi.
Perhaps ONI created them, and are hiding them in the mysterious ONI building we keep seeing and hearing about? Maybe this ties in with Dare's Mission...

Board yoshi
Eat blue Brute
Fly away to safety

That interesting but I have no clue what it could be. A large living Covenant species has never been shown, the biggest living creature I can name is the Hunter.

"When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give EL1TE SUPR3MACY lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

I think Staten literally meant that somewhere/time in ODST we'll be able to ride around in an Elephant, like the ones on Sandtrap. I highly doubt we'll be riding a giant, magical creature (elephants are magical creatures) through New Mombasa.

Actually, the Scarab is a huge living creature...

Haha, yeah I know what you mean, but the Jurassic Park refrence? Hopefully it will be something like a giant robot suit or something, like the 'Mechs from Mechassault or the Vital Suits from Lost Planet. That would be badass!

wow...
ok he wasnt saying that the game has Jurassic Park type sounds in it. He was comparing to the epic sounds coming from the speakers were creating the same type of scene in the movie (water in the cup shaking). There will be no large creatures in ODST cuz that would suck.

I wish I was still legendary.

DRINOL!

finally, I really hope it is one.

Imagine that you, Rookie, all alone, have to take down a giant living beast....from the inside, while being shot at by Brutes being digested by this creature.

No it is mostly machine. It is piloted by the Lekgolo. The hunter is just armored Lekgolo.

Thump thump.

  • 06.02.2009 8:15 PM PDT

I was under the impression that the Jurassic Park reference was referring to the massive thumping from a studio with a huge badass sound system....

But why couldn't he just say that the studio had massive thumping speakers and how cool that was? He didn't neccesarilly have to quote Jurassic Park. And knowing Bungie's sly, sneaky ways of teasing us, I believe that we're in for something big when Halo 3: ODST releases on September 22nd.

If you've read a few Weekly Updates, you can easily see that its just Urk's writing style. You'll notice that they never really just blatantly say something, rarely give definitive answers, and always write in some poetic prose that usually takes 10 times as much text to explain the point they're trying to make. (beating around the bush, so to speak)

And he DID pretty much say the studio had a huge thumping system. Many times he talked about how it was "virtually soundproof", yet audio still came through the walls, etc etc.

The Jurassic Park reference is just to drive the point home. Unnecessary in my opinion, but like I said, that seems to be the writing style for everyone who works at Bungie.
