I have looked around throughout the search bar and the past few pages and found nothing on this. Sorry if it is a repeat.

Master Chief in Trailer?

In the trailer, you can clearly see from moments 32-40, directly after you pass the destroyed UNSC ship, another ship passing further down below it jettisoning a smaller craft towards the destroyed vessel. Watch it on a larger TV or blow it up if your computer has the image too small. Its a harder thing to notice, especially when the frigate takes your eye off everything else.

In Halo: Fall of Reach, there is a point when the Master Chief must board The UNSC Prowler Circumference in order to destroy its NAV equipment since it was unable to follow the Cole Protocol and dump all of its information regarding Earth and other human planets.

This exact mission starts on page 301 and continues for some time thereafter. In it, it describes as The Master Chief, along with Spartans James and Linda, board the Vessel as it is docked at the Reach Station Gamma.

Examining the destroyed vessel, you can see two win engines in the back end tail of the vessel from about 32 seconds on for the duration of its time on screen. The vessel looks quite foreign in comparison to the other UNSC ships we are used too, namely the Marathon Class and others briefly seen in Halo 2. Therefore, this vessel could in fact be the Stealth Prowler design and match the description of the Circumference.

Flaws
There are quite a few, but we've already noted several inconsistencies with the trailer regarding Spartan placement and bombing displays. Not to mention...but we dont see any Covenant...

"Very Well Master Chief. We'll go with your suggestion. I'll plot a course over the docking station. Ready and prep two dropships. We'll launch you..."
-Commander Keyes (Page 303 of The Fall of Reach)
(The second dropship was heading planetside)

This one fragment sums it up. In the frame, we cant see the Orbital Gamma Station where the Circumference is docked. Furthermore, the Ship jettisoning a smaller craft would appear to be closer to the planet launching something upwards towards the ship. Furthermore, the Master Chief enters through the Orbital Station to access the Circumference. I've reread the section several times and I find it is a bit ambiguous as to whether or not the Circumference is physically in the 3km ring or merely attached to it. It seems impractical for a Hangar bay to stuff a ship inside it as large as a prowler (however small it is in comparison to other vessels). Not to mention that other ships like Marathon class vessels would also need to dock there. I would think they would attach differently.

Perhaps someone can read it and point out what I'm missing. When it comes down to it, the ship closer to the planet's surface is jettisoning something. Whether that object's trajectory is the damaged vessel or not, we can't tell. It is something to look at though and wonder about. The scenario above doesn't seem likely, but it is the only thing from "The Fall of Reach" that would fit the on screen description, however off it appears. Its always possible that this game may not line up with the novel completely although i think that would be a disservice to the fans.

EDIT: After conversing a bit with MLG Cheehwawa, perhaps what we view to be the ship, is in fact the station or orbital ring, which has obviously suffered some damage. The ship would therefore be inside of it. The other section of the ring appears missing however. But the smoke trail emitted could come from the C4 loaded Pelican the Spartans took to enter it. Thats all thanks to MLG Cheehwawa. Honestly, who knows at this point. Its only speculation.

Because you don't really learn how to swear until you learn how to drive.

Solid evidence... I agree he may be there ^_^

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

I like how you put this. Who knows, we may see MC in this game.

[edit] Since my HD flatscreen monitor is still slightly new, I can see what you are talking about clearly. However, there are 2 more floating around it, and they look like either bodies, or something......

Not denying you, just saying that I have no idea what they are :\

Why don't you level 50's out there, when you finally decide to apply for colleges...why don't you put that you were a level 50 on your application. And put it on your job resume, too. See how much it matters, and how much people care.

the vessel is inside the station. thats why they had to blow their way into the station.
if that is happening in the video its not what you think

I hate you so much...

But not as much as I hate the internet.

Prowlers are supposed to be stealth ships that litterally hide in the shadows. That thing was huge...

Because Bungie said so.....

I n ghost of Onyx they talk about a hug e prowler....their possible

  • 06.02.2009 9:57 PM PDT

"Autobot's Lets Roll"

yeah that would be a pretty big prowler but i like a man with evidence so i agree with your theories.

Thats true. But against the backdrop of a planet it would stick out. Perspective could make it appear as though it is also bigger than it really is.

Even if it isnt that event depicted in the book, it is worth noting that something is attempting to reach it and that other ships are closer to the planet. From the novel, this seems like the only likely explanation however doubtful it may appear. I already admitted it is slim. I'd love to see some other speculation on what it could be.

Also, I dont recall it being physically in a station. I was under the impression it was docked. I should reread Fall of Reach.

If you already live in heaven, Where do you go when you die?

Well, master chief WAS in the whole Reach event... but will he be a main character... I think that is unlikely...

Other Spartans? Because he said there already was flaws, that could be one...

While it is possible that the Chief could be in the beggining of the game, he will not be the main character. The only thing he does at Reach is board the Circumference. Straight after he is wisked away to Installation 04(Halo).

This is why i conclude that Halo: Reach will tell the story of the Spartans who were sent to the surface of Reach.

After rereading the passage...thats possible. Its a bit ambiguous as to whether they enter the station to gain an access point to the Circumference or if the Circumference physically sits in the station. Such a station would be immense. They say its a 3km ring orbiting the planet. But, would such a thing fit a vessel, even a smaller prowler vessel, inside of its hangar bay? That seems impractical.

Still, it is true. We should at least glimpse the ring and we dont. I am leaning towards the damaged vessel not being the Circumference now. Still, it is possible the trajectory of the Jettisoned vessel may be somewhere else.

At the very least, some thought needs to be given as to what those ships were doing down lower to the surface, who is on that seemingly smaller vessel and what is its trajectory?
