just think of it this way:

if you decided not to buy the maps and waited for ODST to come out then you would have missed out on many months of play time and fun

by buying them when they came out you were really just paying to get them way ahead of the in store release

ODST also seems to operate as more of a sequal in terms of content release (not story line), It is a new campaign with added features, which is basically what a sequal is

if halo 3 came with all the halo 2 maps would you complain about paying for them twice?

you are only angry because you made an emotional response before you thought it through completely, once you do it makes sense

EDIT: yeah, and don't forget you get the halo: reach beta also

No, i am not just making a random emotional response. I've been mulling the idea over at times of boredom since ODST's first breath was taken on the internet. Now that we have a better idea of what the final package will include, I felt it appropriate to finally voice my concerns.

And yes, I would've complained if all the Halo 2 maps were merely imported into Halo 3 with only like 3 new maps. Because then it would be the same situation. However, there's like 3 maps even closely resembling Halo 2 counterparts, which is fine.

and my previous post contains a response to the Beta argument--i was writing it as you were posting this.

mr gruntsworthy is compling about the price lol thats funny beacuse i have to pay 120 in aus and im not complaing i just need to save up do the same then you can be happy

No, we are going to get it for about $80. We aren't actually paying more, it is just looks that way due to the currencies not being equal. $USD1 = $AUD0.80

OP, i agree with you in principal, but Microsoft is not a charity. In these hard economic times they can't afford to give away products that they can earn money for. At the end of the day it is only $10 (or $12 for us) which is not that big of a deal.

ok thank you i get it know sorry gruntsworthy for being offensive

Don't the map packs usually go free after 6-9 months? In other words-- The maps would be free by the time the game comes out. ...Which means that your money you spent on the maps when they first came out is wasted anyway.

Eh it's 10 bucks to play for a good year to 3 months before their free. I think it's worth it, but just me.

yeah what they said, and 10 bucks isn't that much money anyways so it shouldn't be that big a deal

Cold Storage aside, the Heroic Map Pack is the only H3 map pack that is, or inherently probably will ever be, free, for a while.

I'm not gonna lie, I am going to buy it despite my begrudging attitude
Hah!

Anyway, this thread is more well-developed. Let's keep the whining about Microsoft's pricing policies confined to one thread, please.

I can't wait for ODST, but I to think that $60 is too much for an expansion. I will end up buying it,however I really hope that the campaign is long. I heard that it is only going to be about 3-6 hours long.
