So ODST has no radar, and say you run into a squad of brute stalkers (invisible brutes), who threw radar jammers to try and confuse you (not that it worked), but since radar's gone for good, and stalkers would make such a bad-ass enemy in the night, wouldn't it be fitting for them to carry equipment that maybe scrambles your view in VISR mode since radar jammers are useless against you?

And yes, I know you can't use equipment. I'm talking about brutes using equipment against you.

And this also raises a question for the other equipment. Will the power drainer's effect radius be able to kill you when you're inside of it? And what other equipment will Brutes be able to use? And since you can't use equipment, will there be power-ups in the style of the overshield/active camo from Halo one and two in the campaign (since health packs are new pick-upables)?

If the powerdrain was in the game, which I doubt it is, I think it would drain your stamina.

Sorry to kill your whole thread, but the ODST's will NOT be able to use equipment. The X button will be used to actuvate the VISR, confirmed in another thread. Only the Brutes will be able to use equipment, and the only probable one used would be the bubble shield.

Well, I know for a fact that your power drain theory is bull-blam!-(no offense). Think about it. A Spartan is affected by a power drain, and so is a vehicle. Now why is that? What could possibly be the link. Perhaps POWER? Spartans have POWERED suits which would be drained by the POWER drain.

I'd imagine that the regen might also show up to make things a bit more difficult for us, as well as flares (as confirmed by ign.com's firefight play session)

If you look around at all the footage you can find, be it the trailer, or some of the game play footage, you see bubble shields being used. If the ODST will be able to use them, well I personally don;t know yet.

I stated this in the OP. I know what VISR is, and I explained how "pick-ups" are different from equipment. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

No, no. What I meant was that the power drainer when used in campaign had the power to kill marines and ODST's before it actually explodes, so I was wondering if it has the same effect on you (other than lowering your stamina). Don't treat me like an idiot, I know what the power drain does dude.

I have not seen a power drain kill anyone pre-exploding. The power drain is just an exploding EMP.

The power drain creates a short-range Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) effect which causes disastrous failure of powered field systems within a set radius, and is designed primarily to interfere with common varieties of electrical field-based shielding, vehicle and power generation. It also has a damaging effect on biological systems and can wound or kill most bipeds in its resulting explosion. Source: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Drain

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I think it would be a safe bet to assume that we will be able to use Bubble Shields.

Ah, yes, the design of the power drain was not to kill, but I do recall seeing marines in the campaign being killed by the effect pre-explosion. Perhaps this was just a conflict with the design of the equipment.

Okay, now that I've been helped step-by-step by you fabulous people and learned wonderful new things I've never known before, I guess I can clearly restate my theory that the power drain will not be able to kill you before exploding, but should at least slow you down or lower your stamina.

In fact, any new trinkets used by the brutes should have effects detrimental to the internal functions of your suit/yourself. Like, say joints and pieces locking up slowing your movement to a walk, or complete scrambling of the VISR function used by the stalkers (sort of like what I tried bringing up in the OP).

Agreed, they are UNSC tech after all...

Don't be so sure. Power drains don't shut off Master Chief's HUD, so why would it affect VISR? Ehh w/e we'll see what happens at launch.

But again, there will be no usage of equipment - maybe the immediate effects of objects you can pick up off of the ground like healthpacks or possibly an active camo, but no usage of bubble shields.

Sorry, I'm getting this mixed up with the new awesome equipment I want to see. Lemme edit.
