Subject: Boats, possibly confirmed.

SB-117

The boat was taken out way before time became an issue (E3 2000) they didnt drop it because of time constraints.

cause halo had no reason for boats, its a friggen ring, how big can its oceans be, plus no reason to ffight on water on halo. But this is earth, lotsa water and this is our world, we fight the covies where we need to fight them. Plus boats are really just a multiplayer sujjestion. also it cannot hurt if boats are added, if you dont like em you dont really gotta use em or play on maps designed for em. Another thing is that if boats arent finished in time for H2 release then make a patch available on XBOX LIVE/demo disks and such that adds boats to multiplayer plus a few boat maps. That way no delay for H2, boats are designed right and everyone wins...

A boat would be a good idea but only if its in single player and its computer controld.Imagen being a guner on a small citi waterway boat packt with explosivs being chased by banshys for a halfhour when finaly they reach a dam crawling with covanent troops they then a cutsceen comes in and a placin flys by chain guns blazing it kills the gaurds on the dam walkway it picks up the cheif and mariens just before the boat crashes into a dam wall it explods and realeasis all the water on the covnant troops bellow.A.K.A. oparation destroy the -blam!- dam.

Guys...all this talk about boats! So restrictive. So limited. Have we all forgotten the other functional, practical craft that the military uses when relatively small, shallow areas of water need to be crossed...
.
.
.
.
.
wait for it...
.
.
.
Hovercraft!

Boats may be what finally apper, but I figure a small two or three person hovercraft would be more practical. Think about it. If the Marines and Covenant vehicles are balanced out on the battlefield, wouldn't it make sense if the Marines had a vehicle that could 'float' and manuever in a similar manner as the Covenant Ghost? I mean, Marines of our generation actually do use hovercraft.

Just my two cents.

Boats would be cool, small and big.
But Subs would be really really cool!
Hide under water, sneek up to a dock or something, come up to the surface (spelling?)
Un load troop, blaze away with a deck gun.
Or Under Water Battles? Sub Vs Sub.

Or Subs firing torpedos at other ships on surface?

Plasma could not get subs, but human weapons could.

The sub would have some sort of torpedo launcher. which could only hit other subs ships eta. (island protection?) and a deck gun a cannon or LAAG of some kind wich could only be used when the ship is on the surface. crew could hide inside. (up to six? four? or Eight?)

Subs could also come on shore like a hover craft so crew could get on, but it would be really really slow.

When crew get off the would get off in the shellows and storm the beach D-day stile. suported buy the really cool jet-ski things or floating warthogs?

I think this sort of sub would be cool! Just think if you spotted one and hit it with a grenade?
Or when it surfaced and you hit it with some really big never before seen weapon?

Or seeing the flag you protected with your life sink and swim away? vise verser!

Boats WOULD BE COOL!

or just hover craft? remember them?

actuallty in my other thread about boats/poll I mentioned some sort of personell carrier that hovers, but unless ubgnie seems inclined to start drawing AND specs on a whole new vehicle. I would totally love some sort of hovercraft for humans but I really really really really doubt one is going to happen. And for the sub thing, too much sneaking...sure its cool and stuff but a whole submarine is just not bungies style. How about this..... You know those little underwater machines divers occasionally use to get around underwater, they have lights and a little propellor and you grab onto em and they drag you... this sounds a little more pactical(only holds one) and yet is still sneaky...

Yea, if you're in the Ghost then get out it would sink. So you can not use cov hover vehicles.

exactly and a banshee is not always around to be used to cross large expanses so naturally humans would use boats, we have for centurys...why stop now?

i dont know if any1 noticed but in AotCR i can take the warthog underwater and u can even get out and run around and u still wont get hurt i have even left marines under water so if they dont fix this in Halo 2 there will b no need for boats

I know, I already complained about that to the..err..appropriate people and I got a encouraging response. not to go into details but marines will no longer be able to "live" underwater if they do what they want to do... and for the warthog rivin underwater they are adding "some" water physics even if boats arent added so therefore warthogs will be summarily slowed alot if they go "underwater"

yea but youl be blasted by a tracking rocket..remember...yes those bad boys are in the game now, so you will crawl along underwater slowly whilst I cruise around on top on a jetski and youl be blown to bits underwater whilst I escape all damage above water cruising away at around 50kph or so....not the best idea drivin around underwater...

Sylistically, I wouldn't go for a hovercraft. That's more of a covenant feature. Besides, the marines have been using them less and less now. Better off with an amphibious vehicle.

The US marines latest Command & Control Amphibious wheeled tanks are absolutely amazing. I saw a program on them and they were sweet. Room for a squad of marines, a full computer suite that wirlessly connected to every other APC in the attack group and again to the offshore ship. It was armed with a heavy machine gun, and a light cannon.

yes a TANK is nice but slow, halo 2 is usually really fast paced action, so therefore a slow amphibious tank wouldent really do that good in a multi island map of CTF... to slow to be of any threat really. but a 3 person U-boat of sorts(not really a u-boat but you know what I mean) with dual motors on the back and a chain gun mounted on the front would be quite formiddable, personell transportation and weaponry in one, totally awesome...

The new APC's I'm talking about can do 100kmh or more on land and half that in the water.

The common idea that tanks are somehow slow has always struck me as funny. Watch an M1 Abrams in action and you'll marvel at its speed. Or for just as good an example, watch the James Bond film "Goldeneye" which uses a slower, less powerful tank for good effect.

can this apc you speak of really hit 50kph underwater... I dont think so, maybe JUST MAYBE its possible if the thing has a monster of an engine (and I mean MONSTER not just a normal tank engine), the sheer mass of this thing would be extremely prohibitive for it to move around underwater, especially if its deep deep water....

Why is almost everyone being so negative towards boats?if boats are gonna be available then that is awesome, they are welcomed, the more vehicles, the better experience,of trying new things,i agree with death, and all of you should, boats would make you try to master a new vehicle..thats what halo was all about, entertaining you and pushing you to the limits of your skills with deadly difficulties(although even legendary gets boring when you get used to it)my point is,if there's gonna be a new vehicle,in this case the boat,thEN that is awesome!instead of posting negative things, try to give new ideas and such, and chaplain is right, the boat has been around since the very first halo.

BINGO!!!!! thank you soo much sshalo, finally a non-boat hater... boats where this < > close from being implemented into the first halo, so it makes sense that they finally get their grand introduction in H2. even if you think boats are kinda stupid you dont have to use them, heck if you hate em so much you could just shoot them alot if they are implemented in H2, itl make you happy(maybe). But adding boats will add so much more variety to halo2(sure its awesome and all but if you can have even more why not?). halo is one of the best FPS games I have ever played(ok it IS the best) and its CTF games are always a blast, but if you could implement water into halo2 in some way why not? the water in halo looked great but it was fake-ish, marines could live underwater and stuff, not to my tastes....if you could be driving boats in the sparkling waters of halo2 heading to some island where a huge fight is going on(assualt MP game) and the sparkling water is all around you, sunlight reflecting off of the splashes coming from the boat you are riding in, giving everything around a surreal look to it. Imagine a several island map and its the "assault" game bungie mentioned, it would be so friggen cool to storm the beach of your enemies island with a couple of boats with chain guns firing from both sides, the water and sand popping in bursts from stray bullets, and everyone readys for a furious fight for survival. The boat you are in runs aground and every hops out .......the rest is up to you.

If that does not get you going then I doubt anything will...

Wow..that would make halo 2 seem like a movie..(of course.you're in itlol),and you're welcome,it's just common sense.and you could try new things such as racing boats:-p...like racing with the warthogs on sidewinder or bloodgultch.!really cool,so boats would make the halo experience even better, just think about it and stop hating for no reason.and be REASONABLE.
