I like your theory but all of the flash clones died within 2 years of being placed with the familes.

probably not.

I don't remember him being cloned.

and John is like 6 feet tall.

Every spartan was cloned.
and every spartans clone died.

MEBBEH BUCK WATNS CHEEZBURGAR

No but seriously, I think the theory is too far fetched to be true.

I can certainly see what you're saying, Flamedude and in most cases I would agree. The Flashclones were stated as being dead in the Fall of Reach, but was that from the account of Dr. Catherine Halsey? The reason i ask is simple. If the statement was made from her point of view then that sentance is simply based on her knowledge at the time.

The main reason they were all replaced by flashclones was to avoid the attention of ONI. But if ONI already knew, and they always seem to, then they may have looked into the candidates and their whereabouts of the clones.
Based on John's unique ability to avoid danger by both skill and sheer luck i'm hoping that this streak of good luck may have been transferred to the clone as well.
I think that we can all agree that John is an exceptional Spartan and he was equally exceptional as a child. If not, then Catherine would not have chosen him.

I agree it's a big shot in the dark, but just consider it for a moment.

What if...?

But to help solve this in part, i need someone to state if the passage on the clones is made by a certain character.

Interesting idea Max, but I thought the Flash Clones died after a few years. Perhaps the ONI building in ODST will reveal more. Perhaps this is why Dare wanted this squad in particular.....

From halopedia:
After the future SPARTAN-IIs were kidnapped from their homes, they were replaced by flash clones, intended to explain the sudden disappearance of the SPARTAN-II candidates. Though the flash clones quickly died, they had succeeded in their purpose to draw attention away from ONI and therefore drawing the attention away from the kidnapping.Though the flash clones quickly died

Though the flash clones quickly died

Notice the flash clones quickly DIED part of it?

Good speculation, but I think a far stretch.

You might as well be saying that anyone in a command position who is dedicated to the fight (which would be a reason for their promotion in the first place) could be a spartan clone.

For the question of John's birthplace.

There is no statement of John's birthplace anywhere. All it says is that John was living on Eridanus II at the time.

Read the novels, when all spartans were cloned.
but it seems possible, but as said before it is a long shot

Do you have the book? Does it state the whereabouts and status of the clones?

Erhm, then why is he namned Edward Buck instead of John (xxx)?

alias? and i know it is highly implausible litez, but not entirely implausible

It is highly implausible because the book said ALL clones died of natural causes. It was the side effect of the cloning process. I understand your young and you want there to be some hint of survival, but you have to look at all the facts. The clone is dead

Oh, and when we all looked at the facts at the end of halo 3, John was dead too was he?
Don't put down a theory until its proven by fact... and to all of you talking about the physical differences, did it ever cross your minds that John went through bio augmentation while the clone didn't? "You can just float and stutter..."

No, he's not... that was what the story was leading you to believe and what most ten year-olds thought till some one spread the word of the after cut scene... I'm sorry i have to spell this out, but i just used that to show bungie always comes up with some sort of cliff hanger or twist of story...

  • 06.03.2009 1:27 PM PDT

It is very possible. ONI may want johns clone to be alive. Just because they say someones dead dosn't mean they are. It is based on the information that she currently knows that she says that. And yes after treatment buck would be a better spartan than John.

Do you like to forge? Want a place to share your maps? Want to join a friendly forging group? Plasmic Forgers

Well, wouldn't the clone be the same exact size as John.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

Flash clones probably could be enlisted, however why would johns parents change his name?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Why does everyone think that Bungie is super secretive and very good at deception and the sort? They really aren't. You all think so, because you come up with these crazy ideas that half fit. You all need to take a step back.
