I was the first Spartan. And I will be the last. Mythic on 9/1/2012 never forget
PAX 08, Third Team against Luke and Shishka, AR dual to
the Death, won by one point... Assembly hasn't changed.

urk: "This is a bad idea."
DeeJ: "Hold still..."

Ok, I just want to take a shot at this and I do not know if someone else has said this already or not, so I apologize if I am quoting somebody unknowingly.

Here's the thing, what if ONI saved samples of the DNA of all the Spartans that were cloned.
Maybe they wanted extra sample to experiment with in the future. maybe they started making them into spartans and because of the the War getting to reach, were forced to take some enhanced ODST.

I mean, think about it, Buck is John, Romeo Is Linda, Dare is Kelly (I think I am thinking of kelly, maybe someone else, whoever is to the left of the center spartan in the reach banner).

Obviously I just sugested that they made a girl into a guy, but maybe they needed a more powerful sniper then Linda?

Just a Theory, Ideas?

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

I don't think that they are all clones, just Buck. And by that I mean John's clone from the Spartan II program.

  • 06.12.2009 12:03 AM PDT

he wasn't cloned

they all had random organs and stuff cloned/made better

probably not.

I don't remember him being cloned.

and John is like 6 feet tall.

Its seven feet after augmentation remember. John was replaced by a clone when he was kidnapped at the age of six

You also have to remember that Bungie themselves, did not write the books; Eric Nylund and William C. Dietz did.

Halo IS Magic!

well he was unconsious when master chief and the arbiter had left him. seeing that he couldnt possibly wake up, run normally, fight off flood, AND hi-jack a ship to escape an exploding halo ring all in the time that the chief and the arbiter are driving to their ship, i think it is impossible. in halo 1 he escaped with fellow marines and wasnt unconsious, so yeah.

*Sigh* I promised I wouldn't allow myself to post in this idiotic thread(Don't lecture me about manners I'll explain why it's idiotic in a sec.) But now the OP actually believes that he has proved all the naysayers wrong (which he hasn't they have all just gotten bored of their logic being pushed aside by "what ifs") so I need to tear that illusion down.

#1. Names. John has always been John from when we met him at age 6 to where he is now at 42. Buck's name is Edward just like Romeo's is Kojo just as it is written in the field guide.

Example: Last, First
Buck, Edward
Kojo, Agu

Now ONI couldn't have intervened and changed Buck's name because he'd still need to be called John to fool the family. Thus Edward Buck is his real name.

#2. Appearance. Buck as blue eyes, John has brown eyes. If Buck is a CLONE wouldn't he have the same color eyes. I mean maybe its just me, but I think that would be pretty essential for a clone.

#3. Voice. Buck is voiced by Nathan Fillion and John is voiced by Steve Downes. The argument can be made that Johns voice would be different in he wasn't in his helmet HOWEVER Buck's doesn't change when in his so why would an all around better type of armor alter John's voice?

#4. Not fact just a statement/opinion from me. Why the hell does everyone have to special! why can't they all just be freakin soldiers my god. Its called ODST, you are supposed to feel human. Why does Buck or Dare have to be some how related (or actually...ridiculous) a spartan?!

#5. The flash clones died. You can say what if all you want, but the information we have now states that the flash clone "quickly died." What if Sergeant Johnson ended up escaping Halo a 2nd time? What if Jenkins actually lived? What if What if What if. You can go on for ever but the fact is we are led to believe Johnson is dead, Jenkins is dead and even though you don't want to admit it we are led to believe the Flash clones are dead as well.

I'm sure I missed a lot more that others have brought up earl, but honestly I feel dumber from just having read this thread pages 1-9.

Buck is not the Flash Clone of John.

Johns Flash Clone Died

  • 06.29.2009 8:51 AM PDT

hmm.
well even if by some miracle John's clone did live past his illness and the glassing of the planet, i think ONI would've been all over it and most likely killed him.

Homeworld- The world on which a person originated.

John's homeworld is Eridanus II, Bucks's home is Draco III.

In the books it is stated that the Spartan II candidates kept they're last names until they became conscripted, which then their last names would be dropped and replaced by a service tag i.e. 117, 058, 034 and so on. John is Master Chief's real first name, Edward Buck is Buck's real name.

A few pages back someone posted the idea (not sure who it was exactly) that Buck possibly could've changed his name so he wouldn't have the memories of seeing his home world and family destroyed (it was something like that, I'm to lazy to go back and check.) This idea is crazy. Most people actually KEEP their names to honor their family, so they won't forget what happened.

In my honest opinion, you guys are trying to dig way to deep into this. The only thing going for this theory is the fact they have the same age (if you disregard MC's slipspace age) and the fact they both have brown hair.

Also, it is said that by the time he was six John was over a head taller than all of his other schoolmates. The height of the average 6 year old boy is 47 inches, just shy of 4 feet tall. Now if John is over a head taller than these boys than he is more than likely around 4'5-4'6. A person that size at that age is going to be well over 6 ft. regardless of any augmentations that have been made to his body. The augmentations did not even take place until they were 14 years old, so more than likely he has already surpassed 6' before the augmentations have even happened.

All clones of the spartans did not have a long life span. They all Died

All clones of the children were sent back to their respective families. So no one would know they were actually kidnapped. The clones all died several years later

John-117 Clone is dead

Go read a book, Its fundamental (the answer is in the Book: The Fall of Reach)

No. All Dr. Halsey says is "The clone will Most likely Die. There is no point in the book where it definitively states the clone is dead. Just the probability.

yeah this reminds me of the time i got sent to jail for stealing crocs from target becozs i wanted all of the colors because i only got the green wons for my birthday and i wanted more ;)

a cone would look the same as the mc. bungie would not create a human image of mc.

but good theory.

  • 06.29.2009 11:04 PM PDT

I think we have now established that the possibility of Buck being John's clones is unlikely, however, he may be his brother or he could be no relation to John at all, but I do feel that there is more to Buck than we currently know.

It's a fascinating theory, but to be honest, it probably isn't true. An interesting idea, though, Bungie should use it.

Not only that, but it's a retarded idea in general. I'm sure Bungie are too intelligent to do something like this. What gets me is how everyone seems to think that every character in the Halo series is somehow related to the Master Chief in some way, even if they clearly are not. This topic being a prime example.

Furry At Heart,
Furry Forever óÓÒò

Supreme mastery therefore, is not to be victorious in all your battles; supreme excellence is to be victorious without fighting.

"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. "

I don't think so. John (At least in the games) has a calm and collected approach to everything. I don't know if it is the same for the books, so someone can confirm for them.

Buck lost his temper and yelled at his team only a few minutes after he walked in the room. I think if he was a clone of John, he would be able to handle his rage better.

It's possible, but I don't think it is likely.
