Never underestimate the power of duct tape.

I'm ashamed to admit I've read them, but according to the books he only had one clone, and it was just to fool John's parents into thinking their son wasn't kidnapped. It died as a young adult.

I heard he was the survivng clone of hitler...

But no, the flash clones died of natural causes months after their creation, plus the Chief's a lot taller.

Add to that Bungie aren't lunatics, so this wouldn't be allowed to be part of the plot.

Nice too see a bit of wild speculation though :)

This. I'm pretty sure it stated in the books that all of the flash clones died within a few years.
Bungie was just saying that Buck is the best of the best in terms of a regular foot soldier.

What if i wanted to break?

Okay if you guys rember in Halo 3 cortana says in the begining that Jonn 117 has always had luck, now what i am thinking is that since he had luck maybe his flashclone had luck as well and survived. Now i know this sounds a dumb but just think about it.

I think that is one posiblity. But i think it is more likily that he is John's twin. Correct me if i am wrong, but i don't think that anywhere do they specify wiether or not John has any siblings

How did this thread come back. It makes my eyes bleed every time I see people say "its a possibility" "its possible".

It also possible that the Dare is Dutch's mistress. It is also possible that The Arbiter's illegitimate son was killed by Master Chief. Hell its even possible that Bungie could be throwing us all off and we will actually be fighting flying pigs in Tokyo.

#1. Names. John has always been John from when we met him at age 6 to where he is now at 42. Buck's name is Edward just like Romeo's is Kojo just as it is written in the field guide.

Example: Last, First
Buck, Edward
Kojo, Agu

Now ONI couldn't have intervened and changed Buck's name because he'd still need to be called John to fool the family. Thus Edward Buck is his real name.

#2. Appearance. Buck as blue eyes, John has brown eyes. If Buck is a CLONE wouldn't he have the same color eyes. I mean maybe its just me, but I think that would be pretty essential for a clone.

#3. Voice. Buck is voiced by Nathan Fillion and John is voiced by Steve Downes. The argument can be made that Johns voice would be different in he wasn't in his helmet HOWEVER Buck's doesn't change when in his so why would an all around better type of armor alter John's voice?

#4. Not fact just a statement/opinion from me. Why the hell does everyone have to special! why can't they all just be freakin soldiers my god. Its called ODST, you are supposed to feel human. Why does Buck or Dare have to be some how related (or actually...ridiculous) a spartan?!

#5. The flash clones died. You can say what if all you want, but the information we have now states that the flash clone "quickly died." What if Sergeant Johnson ended up escaping Halo a 2nd time? What if Jenkins actually lived? What if What if What if. You can go on for ever but the fact is we are led to believe Johnson is dead, Jenkins is dead and even though you don't want to admit it we are led to believe the Flash clones are dead as well.

Sure its possible, lots of things are, but its so unlikely and also such a dumb idea that I don't believe its worth discussing.

All clones of the spartans did not have a long life span. They all Died

All clones of the children were sent back to their respective families. So no one would know they were actually kidnapped. The clones all died several years later

John-117 Clone is dead

Go read a book, Its fundamental (the answer is in the Book: The Fall of Reach)

But sinse John himself was basiclly a genius and strong and swift from birth (remember in the book when he is fighting the kids on that hill? and he's winning :D) and his clone has the same genetic matierial, the clone has a chance of surviving, which in term makes this possible.

Its not possible.

"Flash clones have none of the muscle memory, the natural behavioral training most humans get observing people while growing up, of their hosts. They can be trained with intensive therapy, but after a month or two, they start to degenerate from metabolic instability in a process called "Metabolic Cascade Failure" until they die from various neurological and physiological diseases."

"Flash cloning humans is imperfect"

This means they didn't even have the necessary tools to really make clones of humans even tried to have them live.

Wait, you actually checked this?

Will you be my friend?

In Halo 1, the map description for Chiron TL34 is "Spartan Clone Training Complex."

Buck being a Clone Trooper just got a whole lot more plausible.

a. he's played by nathan fillion from firefly who did not play master cheif so the voice would be off
b. there would be a bigger deal about some shrouded mystery (like dare) on the ODST project page
