Is it safe to assume that whoever we'll be playing as, they will be using the Mark V armor that was in the first Halo?

That's a pretty safe assumption, especially considering the center figure in the Halo REACH banner, looks to be wearing the familiar helmet of the MARK V.

So I'm assuming we're going to see health packs, fall damage and the old HUD again. Hmmmmmm...I wonder how Bungie will address some of these issues considering Halo 2 and 3 changed the gameplay quite a bit and that most of us have gotten used to those changes.

All the Mark armor looks similar in concept. But to be truly honest, I highly doubt that armor is Mark V. This is around when the MJOLNIR project was started. The armor typically changes fast.

I mean think about it. Right after Master Chief returned back from the first Halo, they already had a new armor for him. That tells you how quickly it changes.

My guess is that the Spartans will be starting with Mark I armor.

The Chief was outfitted with Mark V armor the day before the assault on Reach [link]. From the banner it looks almost like those Spartans are wearing Mark IV (based on illustrations found on Halopedia).

I'm pretty sure that was the Mark I concept.

No, because it is not safe to assume that you will be playing as a Spartan.

Might not be playing as a Spartan is that even an option? If not a Spartan i hope it is an ODST.

Why do I find that really hard to believe?

I am 99% sure that is what you will be using. The other 1% percent would be if they really screwed up the game and made you an odst or marine.

Well if they dont use spartans(which i am 99% sure they will. Then it would be odst's or marines which would really screw up the game

I am not a Bungie employee. I literally know nothing about Halo: Reach. I know everything that you guys know, and I found out about this new game at the same time that you did.

Please, please, please, don't take ANYTHING I say as a hint!!!! It is speculation, just like the rest of you :-)

The Mark V armor wasn't brand new at the time of Fall of Reach I believe (been a while since I've read the books), but I know there was a gap of time between the events of Halo 1 and 2.

So perhaps we'll see permutations of Mark V armor (assuming they're Spartans =P)

The gap you are referring to was from August 2552 - October 2552. This is the time frame between Halo 1 and 2. According to the books, the Mark V had the shortest use period (3 months) when it was replaced in October 2552 by the Mark VI.

I think it would be interesting to go back to the old armor. With Halo 3: ODST introducing health packs again, maybe this would be a good way to bring back a lot of the elements that made Halo 1 so great.

Signatures are for squares.

I'd say we are using Mark V and IV.

According to the Fall of Reach it suggests that soon after the Chief was given the Mark V the other SPARTANS received it as well. Page 309 in Fall of Reach if you want to question that. ;) In response to Foman, SPARTANS and civilians(not including admiral whitcomb and his rescuers) were the only one's to survive Reach. It would seem highly unlikely that we would play as marines who probably lasted about thirty minutes in combat. :P I have no doubt that if we're playing as SPARTANS we will most definitely have Mark V. Unless bungie throws us a curve ball with SPARTAN I's or something like that.

I really want to see the Mark V suit on the 360!!!! That's the coolest suit right beside the Mark IV. But for some reason those suits look more like Mark IVs due to the shape and not as bulky.
