I was watching this video, and one this stuck out for me: the ability to set up ambushes on Covenant patrols in four player co-op.
This, in my opinion, would be brilliant, but I have doubts about the strength of the AI making this actually fun. Halo doesn't have the greatest AI I've ever seen. Will I have fun setting up ambushes with my buddies? When the enemy realise they're being ambushed, will they move to find cover from all fronts? Will they focus fire on one ODST in an attempt to take him down instead of instantly splitting up and going for the nearest player?
Also, on the harder difficulties, will there be enough patrols that moving through the city will be hard? Will they respawn frequently?
And is this set up so that if I crouch down in a dark corner near the enemy, they won't find me? Unless they've changed the game mechanics significantly, I can't imagine sneaking around working very well.
And... and, will online co-op work better across borders? I can't play coop with friends in America because the game is sluggish and unbearably slow. Will this happen in 4 player campaign coop? Will it happen in 4 player firefight? If it does, I really can't see myself enjoying it much (because I'd rather play it with my American friends than my non-existant Australian ones). And I'm not going to play it by myself, because that's just boring. I would rather have some of my shots not register sotto Halo 3 matchmaking than play in slow motion.
Just some thoughts. This whole expansion is based around coop vs AI. I hope it works.
Thanks,
