All Spartans use standard UNSC neural interfaces. There's nothing special about them.

Thats what I thought too. Why is everyone so keen on Dare being a Spartan??

Goats R Us

She might be related to Master chief or maybe has to do something with Cortana?
I don't know, throwing ideas.

Talk to the Bones

Isn't it obvious? She won in one of the recon challages before set out for new membasa.

"It's better to live one day as a lion, then one hundred years as a sheep." -Italian Proverb

A Marine scout sniper was once asked what he felt when he killed terrorists.
His response? "Recoil"

"Though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I fear no evil, for You are with me."

For the description for the ODST helmet in H3, it says something about how the Spartan's armor/helmets were sometimes adopted by other military branches, it's possible that ONI could have just taken the Recon helmet and given it to some of their operatives.

Also, all Marines have neural implants.

Dudes. Last I check, in Fall of Reach, there were Spartains who failed at something (can't remember exactly) and where named EX-Spartains. EX-Spartains where striped of their Mojour armor. But it didn't say there helmet's where stripped of them =\ So it is possible. PLUS!!! I don't remember ANY female spartains, so they don't have to be big do they?

">Sticky goes through spartan<......?.......Hey its stosh!!!!"

Just to clear a bit up You see her face for a while in the opening cut seen "NO ALIEN" and seems to be on bad terms with the ODST leader forget which one is him. Also a couple of the other ODST say her armor is weird so it cant be ODST i'm not saying she's spartan i'm saying she isn't ODST. p.s check out the E3, 3 different example videos that are up on the site sorry no link.

i don't think she's a spartan, she just happpens to have a Recon Helmet.

don't read into it so much, and just accept that she is from ONI and they have access to a downgraded version of the recon helm.

\plus, if she's a spartan, she wouldn't be an ODST would she?

Dare is not a spartan, she is an agent from Oni, the Office of Naval Intelligence. Recon armor was developed by ONI so it makes sense that their agents would wear it.

Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

I believe she is voiced by the same actor who was Alice in Halo Wars... So... That somehow makes Dare a spartan, too.
:P

um, about that thing earlier, spartans were all clones of their original humans who were then killed off so that they never met, their were female spartans, master chief had no relatives, DARE isn't a spartan for they were almost all killed and as stated earlier Kelly was the shortest, the only way to fail the spartan program was to become crippled during the second transformation, those who survived couldn't be cloned and come out the same, they had no need to clone the ex-spartans cause they would take another 20+ years to get ready, also, DARE can't have mjolnir or however u spell it for they only made enough suits for master chief and his generation while the data was burned by plasma on Reach when the planet was glazed along with about 25 or so spartans other than Master Chief and his team of 3 who joined him in taking back apart of the orbital super Mass Acceleration Cannons aka MAC's which orbited around reach, but during that mission, the girl in the team died, one dude died from impact(i think) and the third dude had his jet pack shot causing him to drift around in space while a giant battle was going on, also, he was out of orbit and only had a few hours of oxygen to survive on while having no control on what he was doing, if u read fall of reach, u see that they were the first generation and the second was started after they went into combat, DARE's armor in those pics was not spartan armor, look at the back first of all, where is the energy pack thingy that is on all spartan armor which help it run, the spartans also were seen as "robots" or "all machine" or even at times "alien" cause of their shier size, also, as an example of power, in Fall of Reach, when master chief goes against 3 odst's at the same time, they say, he sees them in slow motion and breaks their bones in 1 punch each time, too be exact, each punch broke multiple bones, and this was when he wasn't wearing his mjolnir armor, that is his shier power, another thing is the spartans had their own specialized vehicles that went with them everytime along with their own ammo supplies, they all went on Captain Keyes ship, but as i stated earlier, they went on 2 missions at once and only Master Chief came back from it, but they still went ahead with the plan after words to capture the covenant leader and have cortana take over the mechanics to take them over but instead found halo which is around when the first game starts, i have kinda gone off topic i think now so basically, i say Dare is not a spartan for only one member who could fight survived in it, also as someone else stated, ONI had developed the recon armor, and also, the armors from the game didn't exist outside of multiplayer for master chief was the only one left and it took like 50 years or something just to develop the mark 5 and then barley coming out with the mark 6, also, those armors seem to be just for fun so bungie could have us have more unique characters to represent ourselves, its actually really simple

well that is what i have to say, if u have a problem with this go ahead and rant about it in this forum but i am just sharing with u what i think, good bye for a little while

"Nothing is True, Everything is Permited."

Yeah this sort of makes sense, because the other ODSTs didn't seem familiar with her armor.

This is from the opening cutscene

Mickey: What kinda armor was she wearing?
Romeo: (laughs) I don't now I wasn't lookin' at her gear.

Mickey might have been talking about her helmet, but she wasn't "wearing" it.

Those who have read The Fall of Reach should be very familiar with the Spartan's MJOLNIR armour. You should also remember that the helmet communicates directly with Spartan's neural implant. This means that when the Spartan thinks about moving, the suit moves for him, decreasing reaction times. As far as I'm aware, it's only Spartan's Neural Implants that were deigned to work with the Spartan's helmets (although I could be wrong). So that would mean that Dare has to be a Spartan

Also, in the concept art for Halo 3: ODST she was in a full suit of MJOLNIR armour (recon permutations). If you remember, the spartans were shown a video of a marine trying to operate a set of MJOLNIR armour and it didn't end well. Spartan's are the only people who can wear it due to the physical enhancements they received during their augmentation.

Let me know what you think.

I didn't have internet acess, I was going to post this before you :P But, good evaluation. I thought the same.

Death to rank junkies.

It's been stated that Dare isn't a spartan.

We could wear the ODST helmet in Halo 3.

Yet all these guys are wearing them too.

Gasp. Just because it looks like the MJOLNIR Recon variant helmet, doesn't mean it is.

Concept art is not the game. She's not wearing MJOLNIR, therefore doesn't need augmentations.

Maybe Dare is one of the Spartan's that didn't make it through training, paticularly the major operation they all had to take?

Quite a few of the children on the spartan program didn't make it, some where permanently damaged, others died. I think some died, not 100% sure actually, but some of them definitley got mangled up.

I remember one of the novels describing how the ones that didnt make it were taken off to work in other parts of the UNSC.

Maybe Dare is one of them?

not read the entire thread so apologies if someone has suggested this already

"It is impossible to prepare for and prevent a war at the same time"
-Albert Einstein

If you read the description about the SCOUT helmet variant, you'll learn that it, along with the recon variant, were developed specifically for their namesakes, but were later adapted for the spartans. There were so few spartans that they wouldn't have created two redundant armor systems for them.

Also, in tFoR, John had is neural implant upgraded just before receiving his Mark V armor system. Therefore if recon was developed solely for the spartan program, then Veronica could have had her neural interface upgraded as well.

Why does Bungie put us through such avid anticipation?

And the fact that in the transmissions bungie gave us said dare was an S1 meaning, spartan 1.

J-H

Just because it's a helmet used by Spartans doesn't mean that a normal person couldn't use it...The neural implant part is only a valid point if they are wearing a full suit (as you said about the marine in mjolnir video).
