Posted by: JoystiqAt a press event last night, Bungie's Joseph Staten teased that the Halo 3: ODST controller's cryptic text should provide some clues into the mysteries of New Mombasa (if he did his job correctly, he said). Since our ability to decipher Bungie's clues has always left something to be desired (what's a Master Chief?), we thought we'd take some close-ups and ask The Internet to give it a shot. Let's take a look at the ODST controller. It has words and numbers all over it; according to Joe Staten, we can find out about the game by looking into these clues. Known Clues- Mid-Right This obviously refers to Kikowani (cemetary?), Mombasa. This could be a location in the game. The numbers "23:03:28:30" are most likely a time. What relevance in the game this specific time has in the game, I do not know. - Bottom-LeftOn its side, it says "J4gaNa7h4 108//". "Jaganatha" was also an easter egg in this Superintendent poster (circled). Read more about Jaganatha, or Jagannath, here. The word "juggernaut" comes from Jagannath. Could the "Juggernaut" be a boss, or perhaps a UNSC ship? I can't find anything else of interest. If you find something, please post it and I will add it to the OP. Nice job examining.Bungie always leaves us cryptic clues :(
I would like to hear an explanation for why ODSTs can't throw grenades as far as Master Chief, but they can rip turrets off their metal bases and carry them around with little effort. - As for the music, there is nothing that breaks the atmosphere like randomly placed saxophone solos. You're supposed to be in a warzone, and it sounds like the softcore -blam!- they show on Cinemax after midnight. During one battle we were treated to some of the cheesiest, squeedle-ridden guitar ever heard in a game.
This controller actually looks really fantastic, I might consider picking up the LE just for it. Major departure from the Todd McFarlane designs that looked like they belonged on an airbrushed van, good lord those were terrible.Nice clue hunting!
Who cares about the clues, that thing looks sweet, deffo buying the limited editon, just for that.
It's like the secret of Sandtrap all over again.Let the hunt for "The secret of the wireless controller" begin!

wow you good at finding secrets in stuff
Does anyone have anything else to add? There are threads popping up about this. I think it's best to keep it in one place.
Hello World!
That controller is amazing! I'm getting LE without a doubt.
Wow, you know I didn't just post this 20 minutes ago. What ever though. Nice examination.

Mike Lowery: [singing] Bad boys, bad boys what ya gonna do? What ya gonna do when we come for you? [Marcus starts ad-libbing the first verse] Mike Lowery: Dude, you gotta learn the words. Marcus Burnett: We usually only do the chorus
in the bottom right unfortuneately the pic is a bit dark but I can just make out what says ghost O_O
Cool!
Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

No bad feelings. (: **On Topic** The pictures have a ton of glare and not a whole lot of info to take in. I looked last night, but I'm not good at finding these things. I hope this thread comes up with some interesting findings.**Quick side note**Hell, I posted it last night and got 15 responses just saying how cool the controller is. Most telling me they know about the controller and that I should use the search bar. I'm glad you got some good responses and not just people who comment on the pretty pictures without reading.[Edited on 06.03.2009 11:26 AM PDT]

I was wondering weather or not the controller came with a decent D-pad. I have had horrible luck with my wireless controller D-pads recently. The last good D-pad I have had was my Limited Edition Halo 3 360 green controller, but that stopped working with my wireless headset so I had to stop using it.Then I decided to buy a brand new one because all my other controller analog sticks were wore down so I figured it was time for a new one. So I bought a new controller and the D-pad felt broken or loose. So I exchanged it at the store for another one, and the D-pad felt the same.So I decided to deal with in, then for Christmas 1 year I got another brand new controller and the d-pad felt the same as the other 3. So I'm wondering if this new Halo themed controller's D-pad will feel perfect like my last Halo related D-pad.Hopefully Bungie answers this seeing as how they demoed ODST with the new controller, maybe they can tell us if ODST D-pad feels normal or if it is loose feeling.

23:03:28:30 has to be some sort of time reference, but I have no idea what its referring to. Maybe its just the date during which the majority of the Halo 3: ODST campaign is played out.
...hmmm....I don't know, but This looks like This.

If you have a good resuloution or even HD video of "Prepare to Drop", look for the part when Dutch says "Now's one of those times it pays to be the strong-silent type", then pause it. If you look at the bright orange sign above him to his right, you may notice it says "/// Kikowani Station ///" It maybe harder to recognize for others, depending on how good your video quality is. So Kikowani may be a district of the city, another clue on the right side of the LE controller.[Edited on 06.09.2009 5:41 AM PDT]
The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)
Interesting.Plus, that controller looks really nice, there's no doubt that I'm buying it.
Viva la independencia de Puerto Rico!! Viva Puerto Rico!!LONG LIVE HALO,BUNGIE AND ELITES!!!!
I agree Th3 Dan Man itcould be Kikowani District instead of station or both.
Well on the bottom right it says process ghost 713 if im sure there something to the left of process another word i can not make it out Yet i do not know what it could mean by process ghost 713. On the left bottom there is vertically this QTA XII / VI which i ythink is QTA 12 / 6 and I do not know what it means .[Edited on 06.09.2009 5:56 AM PDT]
