Subject: Why Time Travel is Implausible.

Without me, it's just "Aweso".

Another support for time travel is that people say that Guilty Spark has seen Master Chief before MC meets him.
Nope. Spark sees him as a Forerunner, and he speaks to him as if he is the forerunner who asked him if "he would do it". He doesn't have to have seen the Chief himself.

Well people frequently misinterpret that to mean they have met each other before.

Mike, this idea seems solid, and I find it much, much more plausible than going back in time.

Why thank you Chicken, your thread is also quite intelligent.

I agree with both of the above statements, well done you two.

as do I.

Clearly mc travelled through time and back to before he was born, at this point he cloned himself and his child was chosen for the spartan program only to grow up to be mc and eventually be flung back in time to repeat the cylce.

MC is a time paradox, nothing more, nothing less... something that awesome could not have originated from anything else.

/sarcasm.

i love this guy

give him a cookie :)

I'll take the MMO cookie, wait, that doesn't make any sense.

Here's my advice to you son, its a life lesson you shan't forget.

Some people are like Slinkies. They aren't good for anything in particular, but it still makes you smile when you push them down the stairs

..Strange...

..so far there has not been a tide of idiots saying

"ITS FICTION, ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN!!"

But what they don't understand is that in fiction, there's usually boundaries as to what's acceptable as a plot device and what is not.

Agreed.

There is realistic fiction, most video games, and there is unbounded fiction, such as the Ender Quartet. This is something that needs to be distinguished.

Also, Chief fought at Reach. If he will be in the game, it will probably be Chief from that time. There is no need for time travel.

Exactley. And don't go saying, "But that could be the Future Chief!" Because if it was, wouldn't he have had the foresight not to repeat the mistakes he had made before?

Can you imagine?

Chief:
"Trust me, We put charges at the entrance bays here, here, and here , then the covenant will blow up when they arrive on the ship"

"then we don't have to land on that stupid ring"

Crew: "Wha-"

if he does time travel.... if ...... Then wouldnt the future chief have already seen himself at reach?

if that was so he would already know how to prevent the tragedy from happening....

-colby

Not if it was the first time he came back. Plus I've thought the same thing about movies like terminator and it just makes my brain hurt XD.

Neo has officially been promoted to barf cleaner-upper and pukee hair holder.
I am honored to have that position. While your barfing I can steal your wallets!

It's creepy enough that people stalk Bungie via Webcams, but it's even worse how they stalk back.

Slipspace is weird in the sense that the basic laws of physics there don't quite work the same as they do here. Things, even with said currents, taken into account aren't quite linear. When you travel through slipspace you aren't in our space time. Coming out wrong might land you off location, but also wrong time.

But I don't think temporal discrepancies will bother the Chief much. He'll be sleeping away while Cortana slowly goes rampant.

I beg to differ.

It is certainly plausible.

To be honest you people are talking out of your arse's.
Halo reach would have the worse storyline ever if there was no twists in it.[like time travel]I'M NOT SAYING THERE WILL BE TIME TRAVEL THOUGH.

Alright some people like to think they know what is going to happen.
They say stuff like . Master chief travels back in time to do stuff the future him already done.

Who knows?

Well there's a difference between a twist and a complete alteration of a series' time line.

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

Perhaps Past Chief died on Reach or on Halo or something like that? Chief was pretty lucky throughout Halo.

So you're saying that changing the changing the entire premise of the book isn't alteration?
