Stop asking questions about the game and expecting to get answers. The board is flooded with questions that nobody freaking knows how to answer. Here are some examples:
"Is this an FPS?"
"Is this going to be essentially halo 4?"
"Is there going to be a new engine?"
"What maps are going to return in this game?"
"What are the campaign missions going to be in this game?"

Seriously, you can make topics about what predictions and things you want this game to be like. But please stop asking questions and expecting to get answers. Anyone that gives you an answer can't back it up with anything plausible. The only thing we do know because of a lot of obvious stuff is that it most likely takes place during the fall of reach.

"Halo: Reach"
Reach is the name of a planet that gets glassed by the covenant. There was a whole set of battles that went on at reach so it seems plausible that the name reach would connect to the events of reach?

"Falls 2010"
This doesn't say Fall 2010. It says falls which is a verb. Reach fell to the covenant shortly before the events of Halo 1. "Falls" connects with "reach." The two words also appear in the title of a graphic novel called "The fall of reach" which depicts none other than the story of the battles at reach.

Plus reach was glassed, it is in hospitable so there is no way that any events could happen on reach post the fall of reach. If MC landed on reach he would die because the ground is basically a liquid glass lava pit.

And the ship in the teaser that was floating around 1. did not look like a piece of the forward unto dawn and 2. was not half of a ship.

And from xbox.com:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/h/haloreach/
It states that Halo: Reach is a prequel and it takes place during the battles of reach.

That is all we can possibly prove. No more dumb questions.

EDIT: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/halo-reach-is-an-fps/
Microsoft confirms that halo: reach is an FPS
