ok. iv tried almost everything i can think of so here i am...

1] i keep getting game freezes both in nline and campeign.
2] every so often i get exception errors (dialogue box pops up, closes halo off and sais: 'exception error...')

can anyone sujest a reason for this?

system:
P4 presse 3.0
256MB DDR400 ram [im working on upgrading this anyway]
ATI radeon 9200se [i know i know! but it seems to run halo fine on low settings.. and im upgrading this too soon...]
OS: WIndows ME
DirectX: 9.0c

and yes halo is fully updated and everything.

Heyyo,

It is in no way, your fault. It's bungie's. Patch v1.06 is known for not being very stable. This gathering exception error means the game messed up, crashed, and now you can only hope it becomes more stable. :(

Try upgrading your videocard drivers. Mine are v4.2, and my comp seems to be prety stable now for HaloPC.

heh, it might be your OS, i used to have Windows Me and I tell you it is the most glitchy error-filled piece of junk, easily the worst OS EVER. You really should upgrade to XP, also i hope MS doesn't come to my house now and torch it.

They get told their programs are -blam!- every day. I don't think they will come after you, but just in case *looks both ways or eavedroppers* heres a shotgun.

iv got latest drivers installed (i think.)

i plan at some point to get a 9600xt and i hope that'l help make it stabler (coz at the moment i get the impresson it's ot halo but my 9200se that's crapping out... it is realy -blam!-!)

seriously. it's windows. ME is a virus (practifcally, not literally). it is the worst os ever made. i wouldnt keep it at all if i were you. (btw, on windows 98, the ati drivers crash the game, and since windows ME is 98 with a few added features, i wouldnt hesitate to say that its the drivers, and the only thing you can do about it is either run the game in safe mode (*puke*) or upgrade the os)

Once again proving that we should all kill M$ and go to mac, the most reliable, easiest to use system ever (uh-oh, I think i'm gonna get flamed here...)!

Anyway, from general concensous, get the drivers, and reinstall Halo and the patch (from what I've gathered from all other Windows posts, this typically works).

no -blam!- you will be flamed... macs are -blam!- in a box

and also, like i said, windows and windows me are basically the same thing, the ati drivers for windows 98 do not like halo. they crash. just another fault of the crappy port and bad optimization of graphics and shader programming.

Macs have a purpose. If you're into video or picture work, even audio, they're great. Besides, since they put idle processes cached on the hard drive, you need less memory. Plus, the interface is sure nice and simple.

However, for me, PC is where it's at. Better for gaming, and you can actually build them from the ground up with lots of options on your own.

Hmm...I would get a mac, but theyre out of my league as far as cost. Even though you know the macs are the better computers, you always seem to be drawn to M$ computers because they always seem to have the lower price (in the short run).

Could it be your firewall? I know that screwed up my comp when i first tried to connect to hpc online.
