Throughout the life of Halo 3 there have been calls for female Spartan Armor. In fact, at one point or another every girl I play Halo with has mentioned that they wish they didn't have to use EOD armor just to look somewhat feminine.

The arguments against have an armor choice that looks female has generally been, "female Spartans look the same as male Spartans" or, "all Spartans look the same in their MJOLNIR armor". Well, I challenge you to look at the banner at the top of this forum and claim that all Spartans look the same in their armor or that none of those characters look female.

I would like to see "Female" as an armor option for matchmaking in Halo: Reach. I think it would add some variety and would also be welcomed by the growing population of female Halo gamers.

What do you think?

Spartan Armor is Uni-sex, there is no such thing as "Female Spartan Armor"

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

I could care less in my opinion. Honestly, it's not a big deal to me. But I say keep the female death scream, that's a good option.

I'm pretty sure he's refering to the fact that women are smaller then men.

Yes, but there is such a thing as a "female Spartan".

A close inspection of females will reveal that they have longer legs in proportion to their total height, higher waistlines, broader hips, shorter torsos, narrower shoulders and waists and a profoundly different arrangement in the area of the chest. The physical augmentations the Spartans underwent did not include converting the women into men. No matter how you augment the physical musculature of the female body you are not going to remove these basic structural differences.

MJOLNIR armor is NOT a machine that the Spartans drive. It is a collection of armor plates over a form fitting flexible suit. The person underneath and their body structure is cleary visible. A woman is still going to look like a woman. (Well, a freaky-scary, strong woman but still a woman.)

They still use the same armor. It's been part of the Halo series that they all have the same armor; check out the books and images for The Fall of Reach.

I have read the halo novels and the second spartan to the right could only be kelly. She is small and super fast. I think that if they had female armor it could take less damage but be way more manuverable and flexible thats what i think.

You and your girlfriend could wear the same clothes and you'd still look like different even with your faces covered. As I pointed out, MJOLNIR armor is one-size-fits-all but it's not a structured box that retains a specific shape when you put it on. The Spartan's armor still conforms to their form when worn.

Look at the banner at the top of this forum. Do all of those Spartans look the same? Do none of them look female?

In my opinion this is a bad idea.

People are already changing their player model to elite when they play Swat. I don't think anybody wants that every player changes his player model to "female" when it gives them some advantage, for example smaller body.

Can the title update include new achievements and avatar awards?

Posted by: Face7Eater
It's going to include new weapons, new maps, new storyline, new characters, it's getting changed from FPS to an MMO, and biggest of all, it's now going to be based on a famous Saturday morning cartoon.

Easy, they aren't all Spartans. Where on the banner is it labeling them Spartans? Oh yeah, it's not. In fact I spot an ODST and what looks to be an Elite.

  • 06.03.2009 1:18 PM PDT

Don't really care, but what I do care is the sizes of the spartan, skinny, big, short, tall.

I said, "I challenge you to say that all Spartans look the same in their MJOLNIR armor" and you all replied by saying, "all Spartans look the same in their MJOLNIR armor".

I get it.

Look closely at the silhoettes from the waist belt down. The armor on the legs and the knees are all the same and unless there's some kind of hybrid Elite with forward facing knees that's NOT an Elite on the left.

Judging from the basic shape, I'd say the second one from the left strikes most people as female.

it is armour. armour on modern day marines does not fit to "curve" for women. It isnt meant to be sexy, make the enemy get wood, or distract them in any way. it is made to protect the user. UNISEX

Plus it has been stated in at least 2 books that the armour is exactly the same for all spartans. They each were around 7 ft 2 and had the same width. hence the selection process to become a SPARTAN II.

so in conclusion it would be a bad idea and against cannon

You guys are killing me.

I"m not talking about a different armor. I'm talking about slight variation in the form of the model to reflect feminine features.

Longer legs
Shorter torso
Broader hips
Narrower waist

I've done character modeling for video games before. Raising the waistline slightly creates longer legs and shorter torso which gives a uniquely feminine appearance. Broadening the hips and narrowing the waist a very small ammount further accentuates this effect. These changes modify the appearance of the model without changing the height or basic size of the model and none of it impacts gameplay.

Once again, this is not about creating some kind of teenage fantasy version of a female Spartan with weird armor. It's about creating slight changes that would be welcomed by a growing number of female Halo players.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

Its got to be fitted for the female body, and indeed in taht abner i see a spartan that looks female, and her armour is different.

  • 06.03.2009 2:02 PM PDT

Long live the Last Refuge!

They were the same armor, there is no difference between each gender's armor. It would be a bad idea to make female armor because we all know most guys are just going to put it on so they can stare at her.

I agree with Cyber.

If you look at the Chief does he look like a woman? No, because his body is built like a man's, an exceptionally large man given. Women are built like women, their shape is one of an hour glass, whilst men have a man shaped body. Armor may obscure some things but gender would still be easy to identify. Example: Dare.
