I'm not going to say that I'm for it, or against it. Because I don't care. But I'm going to offer my view on things.
First thing, the banner. All their armors look different. I'm going to go with the assumption that they are Spartans.
First on the left. Bulky and heavy looking, quite tall. He carries a weapon and the bulkyness probably comes from an ammo belt or other equipment.
Second on the left. Standing behind the group quite a bit. Seems to carry a handgun only, Hard to tell the proportions because the it's partly behind the first person. Just because we see one half, doesn't mean we know the other half.
Middle is MC looking.
Fourth is again, a little behind the group and seems to carry a knife. Its armor is again, different if you look at the shoulder pads.
Last, got some kind of backpack, looks like a cap rather than a helmet. Other than that, can't tell much about it.
Their heads all look strange if we want them to be Spartans, but we don't know what they are, do we?
Second thing. The general armors. As alot of people have said, all Spartans look the same in their armor.
It's been said in Fall of Reach and I think it was said in First Strike, a marine thinks to himself he's going to ask one of those female spartans out, if he could ever figure out which ones are the females.
The Halo Graphic Novel does a Metroid on us, first we think it's the Chief, then she takes her helmet of and we see it's a woman. So unless anyone flipped to the last page, I don't think anyone thought it was a woman.
Then there's the non-canon part, DoA 4 Nicole. I know it's a sensitive area, but, she's there. As I recal, Bungie worked closely with Tecmo to get the details right, or atleast they stated they did. Nicole looks like MC to me, so, there's one visualisation. Even though it's non-canon.
Third about the training of the Spartans. They trained really hard from the age of six. All kinds of heavy training. Now, I'm not sure but if I do remember correctly, they were augmented at the age of 14, that's 8 years of heavy training. What's that going to do to the female body? Look at the avarage male sprinter, and the avarage female sprinter. Heck, look at a female bodybuilder without implants. There is really no "wider chests", unless the surgeons thought that putting in some extra body armor in the chest area was in place.
So, a heavily trained female body do look maleish, not a 100% match, but put a gel layer, black rubber suit with armor plates on it, and I really doubt you can tell the difference.
But, as I said, I'm neither against nor for it.
