There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."
Well, I've had a couple of ideas about Halo: Reach and what type of game its gonna be.
First, I'm gonna dissmiss the idea that this is yet another FPS. Its unlikle due to the fact that all of the Halo games (except Halo Wars) are shooters and after a while, one genre begins to get a bit boring. If Bungie have any sese, this will not be another FPS.
So I've got two ideas, both based on very popular games, enjoyble mainly because of the type of game it is.
So first, I thought it might be somewhat like Rainbow 6 or any other squad based tactical shooter. Now its, true that would still make it a shooter, however the extra aspect of having a squad to command and perhaps upgrade with better equipment or stats makes the idea a little more appealing.
This seems likley due to what little evidence we have. The picture up top depicts a mall group of Spartens (Except the maybe the left one, but no one can guess who that is). Its likley that instead of you playing as one and the others just appearing in cutscenes, that you control the entire group. If any of you have read the book or checked out Halopedia (Like me) you'll know that a few teams of Spartens where dispatched onto Reach to fight the Covenant and its likley you play as one of these teams.
However, something didn't add up. And that was multi-player. We know that Halo: Reach has multi-player as a BETA will be released with ODST. However, it is difficult if not impossable to intigrate the squad based tactics into multiplayer, without reducing the amount of players to two or three. Either that or all the squad members are replaced with players, wich changes the game into a normal shooter.
Of course, that might be the case, but I'm guessing that Bungie would wanna show off the special feaures of the game with the BETA, so I doubt it will be like this. Either that or they've come up with a very inventive suad multiplayer mode.
So I was left with one other likley option: a war game.
Now we already have an RTS (Halo Wars) so there is really only one type of game left that might have massive battles. God knows what its name is, but if you've ever played Starwars: Battlefront, you'll know what I mean. Massive armys play against other massive armies while you play as a normal soldier, in this case a Marine, alongside huge amounts of AI. As you get more kills and capture more strategic points, you are able to upgrade yourself to higher ranks which sport better, or more specific weapons and equipment. If you're really good, you play as a hero, probably a Sparten.
Its essentially a shooter, only you're weaker and you fight a lot of people, with lots of other people in massive maps and huge vehicles. Of coure, at its very core, its still a shooter and not a very advanced one at that, but its the massive scale of it that makes it so enjoyable to play. And as Halo: Reach is based around the massive wars that took place on Reach, I'm sure this game type won't look at all out of place. Its only problem is story. Creating a decent story mode out of these types of games is difficult.
But hey, Bungie are pretty inventive at times :P
Sorry about the wall, but hey, sometimes I write a lot :P
What do you guys think, then? Likley, unlikley, got any ideas of your own you wanna share? If so, i'll add them to this post.
