You idiot I said in video games overall you have the ability to fly, so who cares if you can rip a silly turret, AND, I remember grunts able to carry turrets easily, I am SURE ODST are stronger.

WTF are you smoking for you to have seen that?

Heavy grunts do carry them on their shoulder.

Are you playing the same Halo 3 as me?

he means the plasma turrets, they carry them around in crows nest i think but they have to PUT THEM DOWN in order to use them, so still, no, they are not strong.
No they don't...... I've seen tons of grunts doing this..... They do it all the time.....

Well think about this one,
Master Chief can flip a tank, but can't take the recoil of 2 SMG's
that show this game is unbalanced no matter what

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

Master Chief can flip an ELEPHANT which probably weights mroe then your house...and two SMGs have too much recoil for him. He points them to the sky. SMGs in the Halo universe are freaking beast.... firing them is tougher then flipping 100 ton elephants.

Mmm, yeah, it is a tad bit silly that an ODST soldier(as badass as they are) is able to rip a 600lb(rough estimation) turrent and still be able to walk around with ease, not to mention he or she can still jump with it.

I can only please one person per day.

Today isn't your day.

Tomorrow isn't looking too good either.

Apparently most of you payed no attention during of the three campaigns.

Marines and ODSTs are perfectly capable of carrying and holding the turrets - they do it in all three campaigns. You can even watch them do it a few times. (Like at the start of Halo 2.) How else do you think the turrets get there - magic?

Further, turrets are two parts - the base and gun itself, which lock togther. SPARTANS just tear it off...well....probably because they can't be bothered things like "locks" or "latches". We've only see pictures of the ODST holding the turret - for all intents and purposes, he could have simply unlocked it from the bae and picked it up.

Just don't use it.
Exactly. If it's that big of a deal to you, don't use it. I on the other hand will use it because most likely I'll need more ammo.

So you would deny badass soldiers the right to run rampant with gatling guns? You disgust me.

  • 06.03.2009 6:08 PM PDT

Wait so they do fire turrets? I never saw that anywhere must have missed it.
But they can't duel wield.
You bring a valid point.

You guys are right. Master Chief was the heart of the Halo trilogy and he should be the only one strong enough to carry a turrent. If the other ODST's can carry turrents then there is no way Master Chief is different from them.

  • 06.03.2009 6:09 PM PDT

Ripable turrets are boring to use anyway. I never used them in the regular Halo 3 campaign, and fail to see why ODST's also need the ability to carry them.

They do, look for Firefight demo videos.

Yup, the only difference I see right now is the jump, and shields. Where is the comparison of spartan and regular human?

Heres an idea how about all the people who dont think ODST's should be able to carry turrets leave them alone but the people who do want to use them still can. As if a few people asking bungie to remove them would achieve anything anyway.

Ok weve had the recon helmet, now the turrets i wonder what people will blow out of proportion next.

You're missing the point here, only Spartans as far as we know are capable of doing these kinds of things with a turret. As posted above, being able to keep a turret steady while shooting is much different from actually lifting the damn thing.

Also; only a 12 year old would ask Bungie to change it. Anybody who's been here long would understand that unless every single person sent emails and screamed via the forums with complaints, then Bungie wouldn't change it. You'd have to scream louder then those BR-whoring kiddies who can't accept that 'BR' got spread.

Ok weve had the recon helmet, now the turrets i wonder what people will blow out of proportion next.

The Recon helmet thing was blown out of proportion, we don't know anything about Dare as of yet (if that's what you're talking about) but we do know about these turrets and about ODSTs. It's not blowing it out of proportion, it's intelligently questioning the content that we're seeing and measuring it up against the Haloverses' set canon.

  • 06.03.2009 6:39 PM PDT

Do we even know how much these guns weigh? Someone get some facts before we complain that ODSTs cannot carry them.

  • 06.03.2009 6:40 PM PDT

*Sigh*
The point here is that Bungie stated that the turret could be used by super soldiers because they were, well, super strong. There is no explanation as to why ODSTs can lift and fire it, and I am intrigued as to whether Bungie has an canon explanation or whether its a case of 'gameplay kthnxbai'.

And Amusing death? Heres an idea. How about all the people who think ODST's should be able to carry turrets GTFO, but the people who don't want to use them can discuss it in this thread? As if a few people telling us we are wrong would achieve anything anyway.

Seán, 22, from Armagh, Northern Ireland, 4th Year Games Design & Production Management student at University of Abertay Dundee, Love games, music, movies etc...

they may only be able to do it in Firefight, to give players a better chance

They act all big and tough when their on camera with their friends and their guns. But when you break into their house in the middle of the night and stick a gun barrel in their face. They cry like babies and and piss their pants.
-U.S. Delta force operator on the Taliban.

It's a lot easier to carry one heavier thing with two hands the carrying two somewhat heavy things (we will take the SMG as an example) in each hand and STILL control the recoil.

P.s. Freakz,it wouldn't be a good argument if we all left then would it?

I just realized how awesome wrecking the enemy team with a Focus Rifle from atop the Spire is. It's magical. It's like Concussion Rifle vs Sword/Shotgun.

Heres my rewritten version of the predicament what should it matter if they can lift a turret and cant take the recoil of smgs bungie has reasons to put stuff in the game and guess what what we are saying right now isnt affecting what bungie does and another thing we always complain about these things but you know what bungie knows the right thing in every game they make and it turns out fantastic and just get over it please

Ever thought of a release button on it that the spartans were to lazy to use?
O:

hahaha that's about the only thing making full sense to me right now
at the very least, Bungie could take out the *craakkshh* breaking sound if it's in there...

"It must be noted that M134 miniguns are very rarely used for infantry applications; photos of M134 installed on standard light tripods are almost universally from some 'Civilian' events such as Knob Creek shot in USA, where people can fire a number of legally owned full automatic weapons just for fun. Military has no place for a 30-kg weapon (less mount and batteries) with extremely high ammunition consumption rate in a 'man-portable' class of small arms. Prospects of using M134 in 'Hollywood-style' are even less realistic, not only because of aforementioned properties (heavy weight and unnecessarily high rate of fire) but also due to the extremely high recoil force - at just 3,000 rounds per minute the Dillon Aero M134D minigun generates average recoil force of 150 lbs / 67.5 kg, with peak recoil reaching 300 lbs / 135 kg."

Well that's the scientific explanation. If you honestly believe you could deal with that kind of recoil, well enjoy your delusions. Bai.

Four shots, four kills, reload, repeat. This is the work of a sniper.

Please, PLEASE stop you complaining. Jesus, they should keep it, as they obviously have reasons for keeping it there in the first place. Its fine how it is, I don't mind being able to have a huge turret.

We don't all hate it, I'm glad you can have a turret, it will be useful in Firefight. Your are not the spokesperson for Bungie fans, so don't speak for everyone, though you are entitled to your opinion.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

We're forgetting about Elites here, people! :(
Also, Grunts are a little shorter and probably stronger than the average adult male human. So if they can carry plasma cannons, ODSTs can carry machine gun turrets.
