i'm awesome

Now we now in Halo 3 the mood of the game derives from the memorable soundtrack and good level design. And I know how I don't speak for just myself when you consider the small amounts of true ground combat in Halo 3 compared to vehicular mayhem and scripted setpieces.

And with the power we know the 360 has and the changes to Halo 3 engine spoken of at E3, what do you think will be of that sense of UNSC vs. Covenant warfare? It does seem like Bungie is truly throwing back to CE with this game, after all. And in Firefight it looks like there will be more AI running around, maybe up to about 20 when agressive (thank god that looks like it looks like it'll be there...).

What do you think? With the direction they're going with and the changes in AI behavior and the sandbox itself, do you think we'll get close to what we wanted?

On an other note, anyone noticed only 2 Phantoms in most of the footage of ODST? I don't think that's bad or anything, but at least they look like they would be filled with Covenant scum this time.

I have no doubt the AI will be much better.. Consdering this whole game basically revolves around AIs. Not to mention they seemed pretty smart in trailers.

I agree. It's just the ranged weapons that make them look like idiots, IMO.

More Importantly, will there be an infinite ammount of them?

Stupid modern warfare.

If you listen to that podcast they say they havent done much with the AI. Just wrote a few more basic commands to shape the game better.

But Halo 3 enemy AI was always brillaint.

Crappers. I never listened to any of the podcasts. But at least changes should be pretty good.

I guess I can hope for more numbers, then, right?

Expect the same as the Packs in Halo 3.

Also back on the subject of AI. They have made it so the AI main function is to survive meaning brutes will take cover more meaning you will need to do some epic flanking

I do love those.

...Do you know of the AA gun megabattle in The Storm?

ODST's AI seems really good. In a gameplay video I saw how a Brute saved his live by throwing a BS in order to avoid a Splazer shot from the player. His timing was perfect.

That was really impressive.

Enemy AI was alright. It's just the allied AI that scared me.... They can't drive or shoot.....

That AI you described has always been there. Play Halo 3 alone on legendary and you will notice how clever the brutes actually are. ( Dummed down on easier modes)

And yes i know nearly everything about all the Halos :P

EDIT:

Reply to Major.

They had to do some serious dumming down of Allies as said (In another podcast) Pre Builds of Halo 3 the Arbiter used to run off and Pwn eveything

They haven't made two games with same engine before, they didn't know they could do more.

Ex: artists working on the new skyboxes.

I understand the Arbiter and all.... It's just the basic skill of not driving into wall would be nice.

Lol. That's a good point I'd never thought about.

Kill them quick if you try Halo 3 with all skulls on, because it seems they are the sole cause of death with grenades. Same thing with Elites. Always sticking me with plasma nades, despite being on my side.

Really? I found it to be stupid at times and pathetic. GoW2 A.I has to be the best.

Meh. It's easy to make A.I. look good on GoW2. You only move in eight directions, and everything is based on a cover system. I've seen enemy A.I. on the wrong side of cover multiple times.

In Halo 3 I've seen Brutes fall back to other groups after eliminating their groups, and Jump Pack Brutes always try to flank the player or attack from the side. They just look dumber because Brutes rarely use cover unless you pull out a power weapon.

Exactly. The options for anyone (including AI) on GoW2 are limited.
