Subject: Can you guess the Spartan's?

Looking at the artwork for the game (right above my post) I think I can guess who the SPARTAN's are.

From left to right; Fred, Kelly, Anton, Li? and Linda.

Or, no, Linda was injured and stowed on the Pillar of Autumn. Anyone got a suggestion?

Pretty pointless post, but the hulking figure on the right got my attention, at first i thought it looked like an Elite, but then I remembered Fred being a giant, even for a Spartan.

EDIT: Sam was the big Spartan, not Fred. I apologize.

Sam was the big Spartan, not Fred, and I don't think the second from the right is a Spartan. They're too small.

Knew screwed up somewhere. Time to go re-read the books.

Your right, now that I look at it, he/she does seem too small.

I was looking at the picture again and does anyone else think that the middle person kind of looks like Sargeant Johnson. The head reminded me of his hat, but I don't think he ever landed on Reach.

  • 06.03.2009 6:21 PM PDT

The second from the left could be Fred. I remember the book saying he liked knives, but Linda was with John and James on the Orbital platform, and Linda got hurt.

Yeah, I just automatically assumed it was her because of the Sniper rifle.

We can rule out John, Linda, and James.

James, Kelly, John, Fred, and Linda
I'm betting this is the correct answer. The final iteration of the Spartan "Blue Team" before everyone got completely separated.

Sam doesn't make sense, since he only had one mission in Mjolnir armor, and that was the Spartans' first encounter with the covenant, and he died on that mission. His replacement in Blue Team was Kurt, but Kurt was taken by Col. Ackerman to train the S-IIIs on Onyx. By his presence with Blue Team on Sigma Octanus with John and Kelley in the Museum, I assume that James replaced him.

I will be very surprised if this is not Spartan Blue Team. However, it doesn't have to be. There is no guarantee that all of the Spartans on Reach were killed. We just didn't hear from them again. There is also the possibility that there are Spartan IIIs around, as the only members of Gamma company on Onyx during the events of the Halo games were teams Saber, Katana, and Gladius. There are potentially a couple hundred S-IIIs from Gamma company out and about (which means the radio transmissions could be "Sierra II 59 (Malcom)" and "Sierra III 20", an unknown S-III).

But that is speculating too much. Given the number and shapes of the Spartans in the banner, I think Blue Team is the best bet.

I make very good maps... I guess...

From left to right with explanations: Sam: He was a giant for a spartan, Kelly: Looks like her because of her height, John/Master chief(Whatever you want to call him): He loves the Assault rifle and was taller than most(P.S. Who else would go in the middle), Fred: No one else left..., Linda: she loved the sniper and used it in almost every mission.

I'm pretty sure that's right.....

It would make sense if it was Blue Team, but it doesn't make sense considering John, James and Linda were trying to destroy a NAV computer, and never entered combat on the ground.
But we don't know the story for Halo: Reach yet, so Blue Team could very well be the answer.

^ Linda loved the Sniper Rifle, Fred had a thing for knives. And Sam died shortly after receiving the Mjolnir armor, and way before Reach.

Very true. It all depends on exactly when the events of the game will cover. If it is the events leading up to Reach and then the rest of the Halo Series, then Blue Team is a distinct possibility. If it is the events on Reach, then it would be happening simultaneously with Halo:CE, so Blue is unlikely.

It could also be any number of possible related side stories. Only time will tell, but until then, I'm sure we can fill the forums with baseless speculation. ;)

Ah, this takes me back to when the Superintendent first posted. Gotta love baseless speculation.

^ given the size, it's possible that it is Dr. Halsey.

I agree. I think we can for sure rule out Sam, Linda, John, and James. It might be a mix of different kinds of soldiers because the second from the left looks way too small to be a Spartan. Maybe a Marine or ODST.

That's very possible, but I don't remember any Spartans meeting up with Dr. Halsey until the Covenant took over the planet and were starting to glass it. I'm not positive about that so I might be wrong.

I don't think any of them did. But it could be that the game will cover more then one story. Say, the events leading up to Reach, then the the fight on Reach.

But at the same time, didn't Halsey wear a lab coat? Probably mistaken.

If it's not Halsey, it must be a Marine or ODST, because he/she is way too small to be a Spartan.

I recall a small paragraph in what I remember to be the first book, that said that although Sam is tall, MC is taller.

That's very true, but we know that at least part of the game (and most likely a lot of it) takes place around the batlle for Reach

But wait! Didn't Sam die the first time he made contact with the Covenant. I remember them having really bad armor and got taken out with one Plasma Pistol shot. They left him on the ship and soon after blew it up with the charges they had planted (a nuclear bomb).

Yeah, he stayed behind because there was a hole in his suit so he wasn't able to go in space
