We know this will be FPS (it's been somewhat confirmed, kinda obvi) so this is what I hope for.
This will be a mix of Halo and ODST, squad based, with a good amount of new (sexy) gear. I think we will be fighting with Spartans this time, yet Armor Wise I hope your armor will look similar to Halo:CE armor except a lot better looking.
I think this game should be a mix of Open World and "Linear" world. Levels would be massive giant battles, from the classic feeling close/medium encounters of Halo. Giant battles with 10+ scorpions or vehicles and dozens of troops or so fighting a bunch of covenant, On a combat ratio compared to Halo (1/2/3/ODST average) Reach I'm hoping is 10:1 (as in 3 grunts would mean 30 grunts). This is not too far fetched it is doeable, and with Spartan allies and smarter Marines/ODST it will be important to have good amount of enemies to challenge you.
Elites should be the Primary enemy, grunts, hunters, jackals and maybe engineers too. A.I would have to be improved, I mean 10x better a.i. This means Jackals using Phalx moves, grunts who do work, etc.

Weapons of that time, no SMG'S (UNless the SMG was out around that time)
Master Chief (Playable or just an ally, He was at Reach)
The Arbiter before he was the Arbiter, showing off his more "Hateful" side to Humanity. It would be interesting to hear his voice, yet seeing him with his Gold Armor.
Multiplayer
I think 16 would work but I think bungie should work for bigger. How much higger as big as they can. Anywhere from 20 to 30+. With no technology and such it's possible to do, I think a bigger MP(d) halo would be nice.
Levels would be different, probably no forunner based maps. Reach maps based on campaign or other colony worlds. Boarding Action remake, space ship maps.
Skill wise it would be Halo1 and Halo3 mix, little autoaim for single shot/precision weapons more autoaim to automatics, no autoatim for heavy weapons/explosive based. Grenades should be Halo1 style (long throw). Fall Damage should come back, maybe not like Halo1 but a version of this.
Just my ideas.
